so once we get the new FLE back on track and shipping it will be the 7th. Or FLE 2

Just as I wrote… I have the “first FLE, not the recent update,” i.e., v2 FLE (first FLE also known as the second version of the 35 Summilux ASPH). Of course FLE is the informal, not official Leica naming.

To be clear, I have the v.2 35 Summilux ASPH, which is the first FLE, not the recent FLE update.  Leica nomenclature can be annoying.

Jeff

I once had this fle, what makes u think it’s a keeper jeff?

the reason why i had to sell mine was because to fund another thing which I actually regret

right now i live with a summicron version

Sorry Jeff what I meant to clear up is you have the first version of the 35FLE.   Which would be the 3rd version of a 35 mm Summilux aspherical

1rst was the AA.  2nd was the  pre FLE which has the single asph element

I understand.  For me (not official), the ASPHERICAL (informally the AA or double aspheric) stands on its own. Then later there was the first 35 Summilux with the ASPH designation; hence my reference as v1 ASPH.  This was then updated with the floating element, so I guess we’re fortunate that Leica users informally introduced the FLE designation to help distinguish versions.  In any case, I have the first 35 FLE. As I said, annoying.

What I meant was that I see no reason to update to the new FLE, if and when it hits the market.  For me, the first FLE suffices for my shooting and print needs. I have also owned the 35 Summicron ASPH v.1 for many years.  Both are fine lenses.  I could argue that I don’t need both, but sometimes Leica isn’t about need.

50mm. You can crop a LOT with the M10R! 😀

I now see good images from the M11. It must have been hard in the beginning to get them.
The M10R soes have some corner smearing with several lenses - the M11 is supposed to be better in that aspect.

in my experience its the opposite way and the m10r does very slightly better in the corners than the M11. I still (slightly) prefer the M11 for other reasons.

I know this is an old thread, but the title is my dilemma. I have a m10m and love it so much, I want to keep using the amazing lenses I have for color.
I’m not rich, like the idea of 1 charger, batteries for both, and same ergonomics.

I'm leaning towards a m10-r. These posts make me think it might be the right decision.

most of the posts were when the firmware was not stable and arguing how bad the M11 was without even touching one, not the M11 works as it should, you should try it.

I will go out all day and only use one battery, most people don't even buy a 2nd. and Look how small the charger is!

But it is your money, M10R is probably for sale and used at a better price. M11 is coming up now and then on used sales.

The lighter weight of the M11 black, stickier black paint for grip, and USB charging all add up to a better day to day experience. The better phone app integration is also a nice feature if you use that or want GPS labelling.

Some don't like the slightly longer shutter sound and similarly slightly longer start up time from off for the M11 (both due to the mandatory sensor based exposure metering). In reality both become noticeable after a while.

In all other technological respects, the M11 is clearly the better camera.

There is a traditionalist group that think the M10-R is the best of the 'classic' digital M's before the degeneration into a high-tech mirrorless M11 future (and certainly prices of the M10-R black paint have become ridiculous partly as a result). Having an M10M, you will need to make you own assessment of that perspective.

I've have M10R BP for a year and something, and just recently added M11Monochrom. Regarding workflow with one or other doesn't mean anything. It's just automatic, and that from very begining. For colour photography M10R is everything you realy need, and for B&W - M11Monochrom beeing my first of that kind - higher resolution and higher ISO range beeing noticable is inspiring! Little details in favour in one or other is up to you to decide. For me my current combination is all I personaly need.

I recently moved from an M10M to an M11M.  In my opinion the M11M is superior to the M10M in just about every respect.  As such, I'm confused why there is so much dedication to the M10r at the expense of the M11.  Is this something inherent to the color sensor variants of this camera?   I was a little concerned about the M11M shutter operation with the off-sensor metering, but in practice I don't notice this as an issue and ultimately I enjoy the additional metering options that it provides.  I also REALLY like the lighter weight and grippy texture of the black M11M compared to the M10M.  It makes the camera much more enjoyable for a long day of shooting walking around the city or on a hike.  The argument about 60 mega pixels being too much on the M11 also doesn't make much sense since you can shoot at 37 or 18.   Its seems like the insistence the the M10r is the last "real" M is based more on emotion or some visceral reaction to the changed shutter and light metering operation of the M11 but in practice I don't notice this when I'm actually out shooting my M11M.  It feels like I'm shooting a lighter weight M10M with a nicer LCD screen, more responsive controls, and even better low light performance.

To be honest, I don’t get it either. But then again I’ve never owned an M10R.
I waited till the m10p then traded my 240p for it then waited till the m11. I wasn’t that interested in the m10r because (a) the gain in resolution while keeping the processor the same made m10r feel like a stop gap measure until the delayed m11 could be introduced and (b) the greater ability of the m10r over the standard m10 to rescue exposure mistakes didn’t apply to me since I knew how to meter and shoot manually with an M since the days of film.

I've tried M11 on the day it came out and did not bond with it.  I keep M10R and M10M, they make sense as a system, and do exactly what they are expected to do.  Silent shutters.  Baseplates.  Solid brass.  Interchangeable.  No idea why one would upgrade from M10M to M11M as the performance of M10M is already superb.  But perhaps I'm just getting conservative -- not upgrading from Q2 to Q3, not upgrading from SL2 to SL3.  My last addition was X2D which is so awesome it satisfies ultimate IQ ideals, so Leicas are for fun and enjoyment with excellent IQ.  But for the ultimate dynamic range and quality I'd just reach for X2D.  I'll wait for M11P and better yet M11D to reassess.

I saw the removal of the baseplate and added aluminum top plate as improvements over the M10M.  The baseplate on a digital M always felt gimmicky to me (I don't mind it on my MP or M3 because it serves a function)  In my personal experience I have found any changes to the M11M shutter sound to be negligible.
