No video with M11 - this is expected in 2022, right?

Not to me. Professional movie making is often manual. Focus Puller is a profession.

Over the past three years I've done over 150 hours of video.  All of it manual focus.

Wow, never heard about it before .. I was thinking that an action movie could be hard with a manual focus camera.. thanks for the great information.. 🙏🏻

I would personally love to see a M-series camera with proper video specs:

• Stacked sensor for low rolling shutter

• Full Sensor readout aka OpenGate

• 24p 4:2:2 10 or 12 bit color

• 6K Internal  BRaw (Blackmagic is rumored to have joined the L-mount alliance)

• No overheating

These specs should be achievable even in an M-series body.

There are so many awesome cameras out there for shooting film. A rangefinder for me isn't one of them. I'd much rather use a Sony or RED or whatever specialist tool if i was taking movies with the same enthusiasm as I do still photography. Spec chasing isn't where the Leicas excel!

Strange to have to say it, but not all videos are action movies, and not all videos are feature films.

Almost all my video is tripod mounted, fixed focus: talking head interviews, plays. A small M-format camera would be ideal for video. I used the Sigma fp for this for quite a while. It's the SL2-S now, but I'd rather have something smaller.

I'm a photographer as well. I don't want to buy a video camera when I can do video and stills to a good standard with one.

I don’t seek a camera that does it all, and I wouldn’t buy an M camera with video - I just want the very best M camera for taking stills, without features!

I do take video at times - Insta360 (with Leica 1”), TL2 with TL and M lens and SL with zoom and M lens.  Video on an M lens is of zero interest, and would be another negative for me.  Pleased the X2D I’m buying has no video (though I’m suspicious it has a microphone!).
