oldwino Posted August 28, 2021 Share #44 Posted August 28, 2021 I like what I am seeing from the samples. Reminds me a bit of my Summar, but with a wider zone of central sharpness. Maybe a bit of Summarit1.5 or Summilux V1?

Does it allow correction due to diffraction by the diaphragm-blades at smaller apertures easier to achieve? I think I still have a volume on Optics & Lens Design kicking around. Perhaps it's time to track it down... Philip. BTW - product photos of the new Heliar Classic show that the aperture is, in fact. right up front, as in the 90mm Elmarit v.1 (first picture in second row).. https://leicarumors.com/2021/08/17/voigtlander-heliar-classic-50mm-f-1-5-vm-lens-for-leica-m-mount-officially-announced.aspx/ 1

FrozenInTime Posted September 3, 2021 Share #54 Posted September 3, 2021 Some new really crazy bokeh samples are are coming out of Germany for this lens ! https://www.voigtlaender.de/lenses/vm/50-mm-11-5-heliar-classic/?lang=en The voigtlaender.de site is slow and the embedded image viewer a pain, but someone on FM has linked them in-line for easier viewing. https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1713815/9#15698089

It will have to be used sparingly or the look is going to get old pretty quickly. This is the closest I've found so far : Dallmeyer Super Six 2" https://www.flickriver.com/photos/44264/sets/72157633349913194/ Edited September 3, 2021 by FrozenInTime

The most interesting photographers to me are the ones who have the creative vision to speak with their own voice. The least interesting are those who can't see any further than endlessly trying to recreate a 'look'. I'm confident there's more to the new Heliar than the stuff that's linked to above.
