economy line from Leica? Is the economy line in L-mount not Panasonic and Sigma?

I suppose people are not buying the Summicrons to buy the Panasonics and Sigmas which provide 95-99% of the performance for 1/4 of the price, and therefore Leica is coming out with an "economy line" to lure more people into the Leica stable.

Look at the Sigma 24mm, it's about 500€ where I live and it's stunning. I'm pretty sure an APO Summicron version will be even better, but not worth 10x the price for most people. Law of diminishing return etc etc.

how is AF performance on the Sigma 24mm? I find SL lenses do a little better on the SL cameras

It be nice if they can do an do an sl version of the 35-70 f4 vario r lens (rom) macro. Im not fond of telescopic lenses that have poor weather sealing

I would love this too, but its not going to happen in a photo-world where f2.8 is considered "slow" for a zoom and f2 on a prime just doesn't cut it, bokeh-wise.

Really wish that they would make a Leica SL 28-75mm F/2.0... The Canon 28-70mm is so useful.

Would be a nice alternative to juggling 28, 35, 50 and 75mm summicron primes.  Especially for low light video and event work.

In  an E-mail received from Leica a few days ago, the 24-70 is already in the picture showing line up of the SL lenses (4th lens from the right)

Thank you!!!

so it looks smaller than 24-90 - and Zoom direction is different from the other Leica Varios, it's the same of Sigma lenses...

Well, it says “Leica” on the lens barrel and the letters are all yellow instead of white like it is for Sigma.

I dont think leica will photoshop a Sigma lens to make it Leica lookalike

it was reported previously that the upcoming Leica 24-70 was actually made by Sigma, and it looks awfully similar, although the leaked photo is way too small to make a proper comparison.
