may I ask what's that on right edge, about center? that little arc - parasail? and there is another small item to the left of it...already smudge my screen thinking it was on me :)

[kite-surfers] Put an old (non-Leica) shot for you in the gallery thing (never knew about it before now). It's a shot from my old days when I could lug around a Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III attached to 70-200mm USM L glass (5kg+ bag) ...ALL DAY. I really like my Q2M immensely but... it can't do EVERYTHING;-) Today it would've helped (down at the beach) to have used manual focus at infinity. Didn't find that out until I could see things properly back at base:-/ Trial outing for my Q2M. Didn't do so badly. Next time. Second beach trip shooting exactly 107 exposures, weird.

Amazing, Bill, the calmness in this image. Frozen [!] in time despite the motion of the still-dropping snow. It's been a few years since we've had snow - actually settling. I'd quite forgotten how much clarity and simplicity is imposed - a sort of nature's monochrome.

Is there much reduction in the duration of the charge in the battery in those sorts of temperatures? Do you have to do the folklore technique of keeping the battery warm (and running properly) in your armpit or pocket? 🙂

Found this in my local churchyard.  It won't mean much to the casual observer, but the date Hannah Charge died was exactly the same date my mother was born.   It is also my birthday 35 years later.  A nice coincidence recorded on my Q2M.

Sorry I'm so tardy in answering you. If there was any acceleration of the battery depletion time, I was unaware of it, so I just left it in the camera, with the camera turned on. One difference between this outing in the snow and my previous one in the rain was I brought a small camera case with me and left the Q2M in the case except when I was using it. In the rain I managed to get water inside the lens hood and on the lens, and I wanted to avoid that problem this time. I was successful until the last series when the wind was blowing the snow straight into the camera, but I was plenty cold and ready to go home, so it wasn’t a problem. I love the ability to use this camera in wet weather, and also the simplicity, and thus speed at which I can use it - this is so helpful when a pose or moment appears so briefly it’s difficult to capture with a rangefinder.

Nice shot - a sign of the times. Hopefully 2021 brings an end to all this with the availability of the vaccines. Nice to see there is another Q2M in the area (I’m in N.VA)
