First day shooting with the Q2M. Today was a rare overcast day here in the desert southwest of the U.S., so breakfast was the subject of choice.

Edited DNGs in C1. Surprisingly, the look from Mastin Labs Portra 800 plus a few teaks was really nice. Their Tri-X 400 sim was also great – will use that at some point, too. I noticed some of the color styles such as Ektar 100 can give an interesting duotone look.

Coffee brewing. Absolutely must expose for the highlights and all is well – if they are blown, they are gone. Below is -1 exposure comp:

Sausage cooking. Not exposed for the highlights and specular highlights are unrecoverable:

Q2 Monochrom

I've only had the camera for a little over a week. This is really my first experience with pure B&W capture, except for a few outings with film back in the day.  So far, I am experimenting around the house and having great fun.  The camera exceeds my expectations.  This photo is part of the experimentation process. Taken with a light yellow filter and toned in Capture One.

There is no one left to play with, so my cat friend Oskie is a willing participant - on her terms of course.   Light Sepia tone straight out of the camera.   Post #287 is much better though.

Q2M with B+W Dark Red 091M filter. Processed in Capture One with Mastin Labs' Tri-X 400 film sim, but I removed the simulated film grain. Leica's built-in crop was removed, which gives a little more image on top, but quite a bit more on the sides (9075 x 5732px ~52.6mp). Second image is 1:1 detail at 2048px wide.

Tonality, shadow recovery, low noise, and sharpness are off the charts, exceeding the IQ of the black and white conversions I've been making with the GFX 50. Not sure what the YouTubers who say the only advantage to the Q2M over the color Q2 is lower noise have been smoking.
