Hey Andy—So whose car is that? An NFL Hall of Famer from Nebraska who played for the Raiders?

Yep. The car belongs to Bob Brown, who's behind the wheel in the photo. He bought the car brand new in 1964 with his signing bonus when he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles. I think he did play for the Raiders at one point too.

Walking along the Embarcadero in San Francisco early this past Sunday, I came across Lyra the Vizsla intently looking for birds to chase. Since she seemed to be posing, I took her photo. Understandably, she elicits admiring glances from other canines passing by. 35mm Summilux, orange filter.

Thanks.  That particular photo was taken at f8 or thereabouts, as can be seen from the DoF.  I was using an ND filter, albeit a variable one (Heliopan Variable ND 0,3 - ND 1.8 Slim version) which enabled me to adjust settings so as to use f1 for other photos taken at the time, such as the one below.  The Heliopan filter proved to be a very useful device for Noctilux owners!  :)

Thanks for the tip! I getting an ND filter. Cheers, CHIPS

The Lonely Traveller -- Did you stakeout this location with the shadows or did you just happen to come on to it and seal the photo? Very dramatic. CHIPS

With my M10M and a 90mm lens, imaged my old student level 4x5 camera, I used Fuji & Kodak Ready Load film, carried, along with 20 sheets to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and other hikes, but that film format is now hard to find.  Because it can be windy in the Canyon, I'd also take a small umbrella to shield the body from the occasional gust to minimize camera shake. My fellow hikers thought I was nuts for lugging all this to the bottom.  It produced beautiful images a decade back, one of which became a 28 foot mural at the National Geographic visitor center on the Grand Canyon's South Rim.
