The mysterious light on the ancient stone steps is interesting contrasting against the rippling stream. I’d like to see the shadows opened a bit — Leica claims the monochrome can pull images out of flat dark shadows. This could be a good test

Hi Chips,

Oh it can, the photo was taken almost into a quite a low sun.  This version shows the ivy covered stone wall which was in deep shadow.  It can been seen on the first image however it gets lost when I post here.  I prefered it dark as 'truth be known' the wall was unintersting, some of the ivy had been pulled off it and it ws

The shadows help guide our eye -- you are right. Thanks for pulling up the light  there is so much going on -- and its all on the same tonal level. Is there a path from the steps to the stream -- that might be a way to integrate the image. But it has a quietness and pleasant feel. Thanks CHIPS

The tonal range is really amazing. I'm blown away by the sky and the interior of the archway -- you have some detail rather than just blackness. Beautiful1 CHIPS
