🙂First time doing a Leica pre-order (I have done Fujifilm ones before, but I think the production capacity is a little different)

Yup ..... it can be very frustrating and irritating ...... but traditionally Leica have limited production facilities shared amongst half a dozen or more bodies and numerous lenses. They don't produce a constant dribble of each but run batches of anywhere between a few hundred and a few thousand or so and rotate between products. As a result there can be months between production runs and longish fallow periods between, although with increased capacity at the new Wetzlar factory I get the impression things have speeded up a fair bit. Whatever, It will be worth the wait ....

Hi Ron.  Glad you made it back OK.  But did the FRA airport photo store have stock to sell?  In the past, they have had only demos, which they have to keep for 6 months..  Of course, staying in the area for a day, or purchasing a camera to be shipped to the US provides the same arbitrage opportunity.

My SL2 is supposed to be in the store tomorrow.

Scott, thanks. I was speaking of the downtown Leica store. The airport store  had no SL2s  and the prices are quite high there.

That is encouraging! As long as the boutique is named after a nice bridge. And #2 on the list doesn't fancy a spare! 🙂

In fact it is my first time buying a Leica camera brand new, all three previous have been pre-loved.

Cheers, John

Yup that was me - like others I also use the excellent S1R and so did not need a second SL2 body so passed this one on. Hope you get lucky and are next on the list. Its worth the wait!

Mine came through to the UK on Tuesday, after being expected last Thu.

One strategic decision that they should have taken is to ditch the Nissan flashes and go Pany/Olympus compatible. I can’t imagine that they sell many flashes at the prices that they charge and having access to Godox and other flash systems would be a major extension of the capabilities of the system.

Mine turned up yesterday, but didn't even open the package until this morning.

Lovely feeling cutting the tape on the outer Leica package.

Screen protectors fitted, new Rock&Roll strap threaded on, logos taped up, 2 SD cards slid into place.

Have popped the M Adapter L on, and my 35mm Summarit f2.4

Just waiting for the battery to charge. COME ON!!!!

🙂

Chatted with folks at Boston Leica Store, looks like my SL2 will not be in before Jan :(  Will start looking at other shops just in case something comes in earlier.

Unfortunately, the two they have are being bundled with lenses because of the tariffs.

Understandable, though, I thought the bundles were going to be sold after January.

Not sure, but that's what I was told me the other day. One was with the 24-90 and the other was with the 50, I think. They were surprised when I mentioned the tariffs, but confirmed that that was the reason.
