Last minute info :

- stabilised sensor

- lighter than SL (now in magnesium vs aluminium body)

- same size as SL. Still weathersealed of course

- bigger fixed LCD

- 3 buttons interface à la CL/Q2 but exactly same total number of function buttons as SL

- same EVF as S1R

- same battery as SL

- available end of November

- 5,990€ inc VAT in EU

I think that you know everything

As above 😉, but with the same sensor as in Q2: https://leicarumors.com/2019/10/21/rumored-leica-sl2-camera-specifications.aspx/

But of course likely not "exactly" the same sensor, as it will be a bit altered for M lenses. It'd be interesting to see if the SL2 gets the same complaints that many (including myself occasionally) make of the Q2 compared to the original: that the pictures seem overly-saturated or just a bit off. Of course, even if true (and not our imagination), there are fixes both in processing and in post.

Right, 😏 sounds like my spec sheet. But whatever. I guess that he get the time to confirm the whole list.

You are right. I was wronged by a famous reseller. His information proved to be wrong. As he never touched the camera back then.

But my other sources were correct after the first wave of presentation workshops. They actually tried the camera.

It’s just in retaliation for those US tariffs on European cheese. 😂

In which case prices would be up 50% as  this particular 25% increase is a self inflicted wound via the Don in the form of a tariff on German optics... a part of my calculation when I decided to go with Swedish optics in the near term.

They got it from Nicci’s post, but didn’t follow the nuance. And hope that it prompts other sources of information.

Hasselblad released 7 lenses in 24 months with the zoom coming next month. Leica are nearly at 5 years for the same amount of glass and many of them are very difficult to find. I don't think Leica has done very well at SL lens releases, personally.

Gordon

It’s probably harder for Leica to expand production of high-tolerance lens products when they manufacture them in-house rather than outsource production to another company as Hasselblad do.

Canon released 8 (mostly excellent) RF lenses in less than a year...  Leica is simply too slow.

In honest opinion, to Leica users there is no point in having choice of lenses in quantity but rather quality.

As for myself, I’m happy with 3 SL zooms + SL75 as my SL (2) kit

and keep the primes to M21lux, M35lux, M50Not, M90corn to my M10.

I was waiting for the SL28, but perhaps I should consider the Q2 instead.

Why bother if Nikon has 8 or 80 lenses on offer if it is not what I am after?

So finally we hear rumours of SL2 spec at the 23rd hour as having a 47.3MPx sensor as in Q2. Just as what I have predicted earlier as the trend stays the same between Q & SL.

I certainly hope the Leica Engineers have tweaked the SL2 to meet most of our expectations after 4 years since SL development & the months after Q2 announcement. For a start, the Reviews of the Q2 provided good feedback on DR and good AF.

Now that there is the S1R as the benchmark, I hope the SL2 would not let us down as a lot on the camera is more than just Sensor hardware. The processor provides critical processing power and speed and not to mention battery life due to the way power is consumed by design of the circuitry. Firmware design is also critical as it determines the image IQ, Color and AF calculation cycles on AF tracking.

You are prescient... when it comes to predicting rumors. 😂

No, it doesn’t. 😁
