Believe that if you will. 😉

:D it's only about condensing my personal camera setup.

I'm interested to try it out for live music with crop modes for portrait shots.

Going to go back to comic con and use it for portraits again, they came out great before - so now I could try with a bit more distance and crop.

I will have to go macro some butterflies again and enjoy the glorious detail :)

and just taking it abroad to capture the different kind of shots I typically carry two cameras for.

I even want to use it as the sole camera to capture a wedding :D might have to be family/friend/cheap experimental

I have a slight worry moving from Q to Q2 might be like moving from M9 to M10.

Sure you get technological advancement, but I love the contrasty character of the  Q

Worry?  No, one can only hope it’s that much better than the prior version. Ever since I bought the M10, my M9 has mostly sat on the shelf. The M10 is leagues ahead in my opinion. Much better camera in so many ways. It’s easy enough to manipulate files of the M10 to match the look of the M9 if that’s your thing. But there is no way to replicate the user experience of the M10 with the M9 hardware. In my personal opinion, the M8, M9, and M240 were prototypes; the M10 is the full realization of a true digital Leica M camera. Just my opinion, of course.

I’ll be selling my M9 soon to help finance purchase of a Q2. Really looking forward to this camera.

Im really curious. have they ever confirmed what sensor the leica Q used? I've read articles that suggested Samsung sensor, but no one has confirmed

I do not remember the name of the sensor designer, but I believe it comes from Israel. I do not know if its also fabricated there. Help someone with better recall!

TowerJazz, a subsidiary of Panasonic.

There are a lot of confusion about TowerJazz. It is an independent Israeli semiconductor company. Which has several factories in Israël and in the USA.

They have also bought a 49% stake as a joint venture with Panasonic to use former Panasonic semiconductor factories in Japan. Panasonic still control 51% of this joint venture TowerJazz Panasonic Semiconductor company.

Therefore TowerJazz is not a Panasonic subsidiary at all.

What I'm wondering about is the micro-processor. Will it be a "Maestro III"? will the colors remain the same?

One reason I’m not immediately jumping to a Q2 is wondering about the new sensor’s performance and ultimately the color rendition of images. The Q is superb for color and IQ. My guess is this new sensor will also be excellent or Leica would not have selected it. Time will tell. I’m thinking a Q2 will fit nicely in my bag this summer or fall or be under the Christmas tree. It appears it’ll need to include new batteries, a charger and maybe a new Arte de Mano case if that’s required. Please, don’t tell my wife all my plans. She can see the Visa bill in January ‘20. 😁

What has me concerned is the report of the weight increasing due to more robust construction and larger battery. The current Q is the perfect weight. They should have left the same size battery and simply left off video altogether (especially since we only get OIS and not true IBIS). If I want 4K video, I have my iPhone.

And how much do you think video weighs?

Yes. I agree. The weight increasing does not excite me. If it’s a lot, that will be a big negative. I disliked the M-10 the first time I handled one. Absolutely high quality, but the weight was a negative if one carried it around all day like I can easily do with my Q. I guess we’ll find out in just 7 days. Fun to dream and wonder.

The Panasonic S1R has “Internal Shake Reduction” which they say works in conjunction with stabilized lenses. Will that be in the Q2

I cannot believe video adds any weight. I’m not aware of technology specifically for video. I suppose there could be some dedicated video processing IC’s, but I’d guess the additional weight of all this would be negligible.

It sounds to me that they may have designed a more robust (heavier) chassis that includes a larger battery compartment and moving the SD card to the other side of the bottom. It’s all pretty speculative from what little I’ve read about this. We’ll know in 7 more days.

Most likely additional weight is because of need for heavier battery to support 4K video which requires more processing power (so video does add weight in that sense).

You may be right. I can believe that a 47MP sensor requires faster write to the SD card as well as image processing. That could easily require more power.

What's the practical/performance difference between OIS and IBIS in a fixed lens camera?
