Leica has at the time said that they would work on a solution for R lenses, I got the impression that the delivered quite nicely on that promise with the L-Mount?

I was referring to the announcement that they were discontinuing R camera production. I thought they were silent on the matter, but now I see they issued a press release in March, 2009.

So the SL ‘solution’ for R lenses took a mere 6.5 years.  Nothing would surprise me regarding the S system, positive or otherwise, at least from a consumer standpoint. Presumably the outcome will be prudent financially and competitively for Leica.

The only change on this page was that they now correct from Spring 2019 to Second Half of 2019... We'll see!

I don't know if I'd call it news, someone on a forum says he talked to someone who supposedly said something about recalling prototypes. I'm not saying jeff_m is lying, he could very well be right, I’ve also been suspecting that there is something with the S3 technically, that is more difficult than anticipated. I just don't know if you can call this news, for all I know it's just a rumour, we've heard nothing official yet.

That said, personally I have a lot of faith in the S system, I've been thinking maybe they just decided they needed to wait for a Maestro III 🙂

I understand that it is the nature of forums but you didn’t need to use the word lying. Lying is purposely not telling the truth. I’m vague. There is action going on, which everyone already knows, and that is as far as I will say. Everything is a rumor until there is a press release.

I'm sorry, I meant to say that I didn't think you were purposely making this up. I'm not a native English speaker so I apologise if I've offended you with the word lying.

Yes, if I remember correctly the original S2-P was €24K and the 006 was around €19K. The line of thinking back then was that the original R&D costs had already - in part - been covered and therefore the price for the later models could be lower.

If this trend continues, then maybe there's hope 🙂

The S007 was announced at Photokina 2014 at US $25,400.  By 2015 the actual shipping price was reduced $8500 to $16,900.  But it was subsequently raised twice, ending last year at the current $19,995.

So, regardless the S3 announced price (assuming it’s coming), be prepared for potentially significant change(s) thereafter, up or down. In other words, don’t bother projecting.
