ropo54 Posted July 11, 2017 Share #104 Posted July 11, 2017 Just curious, but I do not seem to be able to obtain focus at infinity when setting the lens to f1.1. Is anyone else having this issue? Rob
jaapv Posted July 11, 2017 Share #105 Posted July 11, 2017 Did anybody check whether it is really 1,1 ? Often, with cheap lenses, the maximum aperture is more of a wish than a fact.
wlaidlaw Posted July 11, 2017 Share #106 Posted July 11, 2017 More like "7 Patent Infringers". Want a CV? Just get one. It's a proven product. If you can afford a digital M, my bet is that you can afford a used CV or ZM. The lens version of a tribute band? Maybe it will sing Abba songs as well as take pictures Wilson

However, next time better cover the camera of you macbook and remove the battery from your phone before posting such things while giggling with glee.

jdlaing Posted July 11, 2017 Share #112 Posted July 11, 2017 This 7artisans is a nice lens worth every bit of the $349.00 Very well made for an inexpensive lens. After a couple test shots I'd say closer to f/1.0 than f/1.1 One thing that surprised me was the little screwdriver included and a focus chart that lets you adjust your own damn front and back focus. I like that. Another surprise is a clickless aperture ring which I don't like. I'll post a few shots later.

Agree that the click less aperture is not something that I like, either.

Dig around in the packaging. Mine was in there loose.
Ecar Posted July 11, 2017 Share #115 Posted July 11, 2017 Another surprise is a clickless aperture ring which I don't like. Yes, I noted that. Easier/cheaper to manufacture. At 350$ something's gotta give... And makes it more appealing to some of those who plan to use the lens for video.
jto555 Posted July 12, 2017 Share #116 Posted July 12, 2017 Just to confirm that the aperture is "clickless". The reason I ask is that I have ordered the lens from Amazon, but if it is clickless I will cancel the order. That would drive me nuts. One kind of gets used to it.
pico Posted July 12, 2017 Share #118 Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) My two bits worth: there remains virtue in imperfect lenses. If you use and like its rendering, then more power to you, the heck with Leica metrics! Buy and try. Many early Leica lenses are 'inferior' and some people fawn all over their outcomes. I have 'good' Leica lenses but have recently enjoyed a Sonnetar 50mm f1.1 which has a strange rear-element dial to customize rendering. Life is short. Try and listen to your heart. michaelwj Posted July 12, 2017 Share #119 Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) I read somewhere that this lens is not compatible with the M4? Does anyone know if this is correct and why? Edit: here Edited July 12, 2017 by michaelwj
