Advertisement Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Hi M11 for me, Take a look here M 11 will be around in less than 4 years. The speculations and facts.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Paulus Posted December 27, 2018 Author Share #682 Posted December 27, 2018 Yes, I'm glad I'm not in the shoes of the M 11 designers. The M 11 tread like this , will develop such expectations that it will be difficult to fulfill them. A friend told me, never to buy the most new computer , but his former generation. It will deliver, a little bit less, but will be cheaper. The same is to see in the M 10 nowadays it's possible to buy new ones for under € 6000,-

Paulus Posted December 28, 2018 Author Share #684 Posted December 28, 2018 This time , I promised myself not to buy a new M before the M 10 P version got out. That helps....😉

I think two weeks later I bought the M10P...Doh! I would love to see the M11 have the below two features but this is not speculation nor fact but only my wish list. 1. Articulating screen 2. RF focus assist: (example - when the images align it flashes green)

Paulus Posted January 1, 2019 Author Share #687 Posted January 1, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) The M 11 is on its way. Meister has a certainly way of saying, that they don't need so much old cameras anymore? : https://www.meister-camera.com/de/gebraucht/8980/leica-m10-p-silbern-verchromt
mike3996 Posted January 1, 2019 Share #688 Posted January 1, 2019 Just take M10P and stick in a possibility to use Electronic First Curtain Sync when in LV/advanced meter modes. Make that mode as delayless as the mechanical mode. Wouldn't mind an electronic shutter; would help with the fast glass in daylight. If possible, really work the Visoflex to match the best of competition wrt. EVF framerate/quality. Or what am I talking about, the SL is ahead everyone. Maybe offer a crazy optional EVF with humongous screen that you watch from top-down like you do with TLR cameras. 24 megapixels is enough. Maybe for the M11P they could actually bring back the 18 megapixel CCD from M9
M11 for me Posted January 3, 2019 Share #689 Posted January 3, 2019 Today I reviewed my photographes while being in the train. After I have deleted one intentionally I was interuoted I had a chat with my wife. Going back to my camera I pressed the middle button so that the infos on the screen would disappear. As they did NOT disappear I pressed the button several times . . . . until I realised . . . . YES I was still in the dekete mode and about 10 pictures are deleted. Too stupid. My suggestion for the M11: It should always be a 2-step process to delete an image. Stupid enough this is not the first time that it happens to me. pico Posted January 3, 2019 Share #690 Posted January 3, 2019 Don't should on yourself. It is very easy to recover the pictures. A rescue program is a must. 1
jaapv Posted January 3, 2019 Share #691 Posted January 3, 2019 Pico is right. Swop cards so you cannot overwrite and recover the card at home. 1
wlaidlaw Posted January 3, 2019 Share #692 Posted January 3, 2019 Usually you will find that the file names will be quite a bit scrambled or incomplete after rescue but you can usually decipher them by looking at the time stamps and sorting in time stamp order. jaapv Posted January 4, 2019 Share #693 Posted January 4, 2019 Also, .DNG files might be listed as .TIF, making them unreadable. The simple solution is to rename them .DNG. Apparently the file type is misread by the recovery software, but the file header is intact.
M11 for me Posted January 4, 2019 Share #694 Posted January 4, 2019 Thank you for advice. What would be a common recovery program that you would suggest for Mac.
wlaidlaw Posted January 4, 2019 Share #695 Posted January 4, 2019 (edited) There is a free tool that you get (or used to get) with San Disk cards, called Rescue Pro but the free version is a bit flaky. The proper versions are very expensive. I use a different program called Recoverit. https://recoverit.wondershare.net/ad/data-recovery.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxajN4OnT3wIVybTtCh1eFAIFEAAYASAAEgIqfvD_BwE Edited January 4, 2019 by wlaidlaw
Jeff S Posted January 9, 2019 Share #696 Posted January 9, 2019 This report by a visitor to Wetzlar suggests that Leica is open to a second M line with EVF along with continuation and improvement to the current M line, based on the direction set with the M10.... https://photobasecamp.com/leica-factory-future-product-news/ Also included are hints at ideas being considered with the SL system as well as Leica customer service. Tailwagger Posted January 9, 2019 Share #697 Posted January 9, 2019 Interesting report. I'll admit that I'm wrestling with the notion of an SL2 versus holding my breadth for an EVF M-mount cam.
setuporg Posted January 9, 2019 Share #698 Posted January 9, 2019 (edited) Cannot fathom why would an M user need an EVF in-camera, just get a great Fuji X100F or X-Pro2. I used those lines for 7 years before switching to M and now they are rarely used. Which is a shame because the lenses are great and their range is awesome. But it's just impossible to compose and think photographically without the rangefinder focus anymore... Well I started photography on a Soviet Leica clone so the muscle memory was there. Anyway all this wishful thinking strikes me as idle and rather unfocused, as the M trajectory is very clear -- faithful to the 100 years of Leica, minimalist, simple, focusing on the light, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and the rangefinder. As they say, what part of no (bells and whistles) you don't understand?:) . Increasing resolution, sensitivity, might have some room. We don't need anything else, really. It would be great to have a digital Leica that will last a 100 years! I have a Pentax K-1 DSLR with Limited lenses for fast motion photography (kids), the XF line for huge telephoto/versatility, and an X1D for enormous resolution/that amazing medium format look. You can get all those features for various purposes. You don't need them in an M; you need them not to be in an M. Don't ask, what features can I have in a Leica. Ask, what features can I easily not have in a Leica? Edited January 9, 2019 by setuporg

Access to the lens system with a sensor optimised for them. A good EVF implementation allows off-centre focusing with no rangefinder or lens calibration misery. Think of it as a mini-SL or a full-frame CL with an M-series form-factor. There are currently no full-frame cameras on the market with these attributes. Alternatively Leica could (should!) fix the M’s external EVF design, which is incongruous with the camera and price point (blackout times, resolution, lack of hot-shoe lock, unreliable & slow auto-switching, etc etc).

I love the M, but I also love the SL with M lenses. I can see myself always having a rangefinder M, but a second EVF M for wide angle or harder to focus lenses would be perfect for me.
