My Scottish roots are silver. I don't care if it turns blue as long as it don't turn loose. :)

Yes... well my roots were originally Scottish too... what colour do you think I should go for... this is me at the end of last year...

Thinking about it... that looks like a strong argument for a black body and silver lenses..! :D

The philosophy of Terry Pratchett's Monks of Cool is apropos here:

From The Thief of Time: "There are the Brothers of Cool, a reserved and secretive sect which believes that only through ultimate coolness can the universe be comprehended, and that black works with everything, and that chrome will never truly go out of style."

From Lords and Ladies: "The Monks of Cool...have a passing-out test for a novice. He is taken into a room full of all types of clothing and asked: Yo, my son, which of these is the most stylish thing to wear? And the correct answer is: 'Hey, whatever I select.'

Edit: I leave it to the reader to determine why Bill's portrait above made me think of the monks of Cool. ;)

I told the shop where I placed my order that I'd take whatever became available first.

I'm going to ask the shop not to tell me what colour it is when they phone for payment and to confirm delivery, so I get a surprise when it comes.

I'm trying hard not to grow up.

They send you a red M10 to match that new red lens. B)

And a patch of black tape (you know what for) looks better on a black camera, too

Get a black dot from DAG....inexpensive, but much nicer looking, without messing up top plate finish.

edit...forgot you're not in US....but maybe there's a similar alternative in your area....or someone can pick one up here for you.  DAG does a professional job on them.

I've owned black and chrome Ms since the 80's, most recently a black M240 and a back-up chrome M8.2.....both with black dots.  Finish selection depended on availability and my mood at the time.  On one occasion that mood swung to titanium, but that was short lived.

This time I'm going to go for silver, and as others noted, I went right to the top of my dealer's list for the first silver one he gets.

I haven't seen a silver one in person, but based on pics, it appears to be a lighter/brighter finish than my chrome M8.2.  Can anyone corroborate a difference?  Someone said the silver M10 is like the M9-P, but I don't know how that compared to the chrome M8.2.

Does DAG still have them? If so, I'm in the U.S. until the first week of March... PM me ASAP if you're interested and I'll be your mule in Europe.

DAG still has a supply of black dots that fit the M8/9.....he hasn't seen an M10 in person to know if it has the same sized dot, although he's sold some to M10 owners in the hope it does (the M240 dot was considerably larger).  We should hear back from folks here who have ordered the M8/9 dot from him for their M10.

Of course 01af is the one who should PM you if he's interested....I'm all set here in the US.   Nice of you to offer.

TA! I was too tired to multi-quote last night... The offer stands for anyone in Europe that wants a black dot  :)

So I was out shooting last night with my well-worn black chrome MM (in a well-worn Luigi case, with a well-brassed Thumbs-Up -- both used through 3 different cameras), a slightly brassed BP 50mm Summilux pre-asph and the lady next to me got so excited... It wasn't because it was a Leica -- it was because it was a camera rather than an iPhone.

So I guess now even black is considered retro

Just curious, what color would (will ?) be the next M-D10 Monochrom ?

I'd like Black Paint, but with the plain BP at the rear (no LCD !), it would be very strange, like plain back of Leica Standard :p .

If Leica release one of these, of course.

Just waiting for one silver M10  , hoping not too long.

.... was it because you were carrying it  in your trousers pocket?
