Herr Barnack Posted December 9, 2017 Share #242 Posted December 9, 2017 I have a silver and a black. I personally love the silver but black definitely gets no attention. Except once someone said mockingly hey my grandpa had this camera. So I said your grand pa had good taste in camera not in..... . . . color I was thinking grandchildren.

albertknappmd Posted December 10, 2017 Share #245 Posted December 10, 2017 (edited) This comes up frequently... Personally favor silver as I am in the sun a lot. Silver is more resistant to scuffing than black so that may be a point for those Leica jewelers and/or bling aficionados.... Bottom line, PLEASE ENJOY YOUR BLACK OR SILVER LEICA!!! rafael_macia Posted December 10, 2017 Share #246 Posted December 10, 2017 I've never bought a new M before – in fact I've never bought a new camera before – so I've always had to make my purchases based on what was available and the best value for money at the time. Now for the first time I'm thinking of buying a new M10 (unless I find one on eBay) and so for the first time I have to make a choice based on colour.I'm stumped. I once held up two Leica M4's, (one chrome, and one black), in front of a class I was teaching. I asked them which body was larger. They all said the chrome body. anickpick Posted December 10, 2017 Share #249 Posted December 10, 2017 The lower noise level of the silver body is clearly evident - just a very light breeze. The background noise of the black body is appalling.
otto.f Posted December 10, 2017 Share #250 Posted December 10, 2017 Oh this is not a scientific test. And btw all evidence delivered on the web for whatever comparison is bullshit! Everybody knows that silver gives the best results. Why else would Queen Elizabeth always work with a silver M!

M11 for me Posted December 10, 2017 Share #252 Posted December 10, 2017 I heard that Leica uses the so called A+ quality sensors for their silver models whereas the lower quality sensors (called A and A-) are built into the black models. Leica uses no B+ or lower quality sensors. The source said that the difference from A+ to A is significant. As a matter of fact the difference between the silver and the black models is absolutely relevant in the everyday photography. PS: I would like to see my news statement going all way around the world and being published in the New York Times tomorrow morning. Lets hope.

pico Posted December 10, 2017 Share #254 Posted December 10, 2017 A hammer-tone finish would seem to be a good compromise. Me, I'd like a Zebra stripe body. Ya know a Zebra's stripes promote surface cooling.

Nick Bedford Posted December 11, 2017 Share #256 Posted December 11, 2017 I have a black M and recently bought a silver M7 and frankly, I LOVE the silver look, especially when the M10 has the same feel as an M7. Granted, I can't afford and don't have much reason to upgrade my M to the M10...
hteasley Posted December 11, 2017 Share #257 Posted December 11, 2017 People think you're shooting an old camera when it's silver, and they seem more at ease, like you're quaint and stupid and friendly. Or maybe it's just that I'm stupid.... Anyway, silver is the best. All lenses look great. SLOBBs are the worst! Gelatino Posted December 17, 2017 Share #260 Posted December 17, 2017 Has anybody thought to unstick the dot and put it up down and down up? I do apologize: this answer is to post on the thread about hiding the red dot by gaffer which I follow with some pleasure due to its superficiality.
