On the subject of Pre-Paying 100%, does anyone know if certain dealers give preference to those doing so?

Or is that a myth?

 

Yes, I know of one boutique that does. There is a hiarchy- full pre-paid, followed by partial deposits, then simple reservations with no financial investment. The Leica dealers I've talked to are well aware of the multiple order phenomenon where cancellations are likely.

You pre-paid? Two weeks? No camera? New York? Ruh Roh...

With a major credit card with fraud protection from a dealer listed on Leica's own website. He said 2-3 weeks. If it doesn't come after that I will get a refund or report it to my credit company. not a big deal

FYI: anybody scammed for over anything like $500, that's considered a felony in us. no business inside us is going to engage in that behavior.

Happens every day, don't kid yourself. Far less likely at an established brick and mortar store like you chose though. Still, you never know...

 

Two weeks is now three weeks? Then four or five? Getting a bit dodgy isn't it?

Yeah, if it hasn't arrived after three weeks im just going to cancel it and wait for my original BH order. I don't need an M10, as I have other cameras to use just wanted to use before I leave for a trip.

It would have been far less trouble to aggressively call small dealers with little or no wait list. I found 2 in a matter of a couple of days.

I remain on the wait list at my only "local dealer" and they've not received the first M10.  Thank you Leica D.C. for getting my M10 for me.

Would be nice of you to call your local dealer to remove yourself from their list. No wonder lists don't mean much. And why proactive calls often result in instant availability.

Unless there are differences in taxes or shipping, why not stick with it? BH sounds like it will be next year unless your ordered close to launch day.

 

Is BH doing the "pay in advance" to be listed above those waiting on the normal online backorder queue?

Yesterday I received the call for a Chrome M10 and Visoflex Typ 020 EVF I ordered on March 14 from the Washington, DC Leica Store.  The M10 was manufactured on May 10.  My order for a black M10 at B&H on the same date has been duly cancelled. Pretty exciting!

My BH order would be $300 less because it was placed pre-price increase but im not sure what there policy is. Ive emailed a bunch of times and they just say they don't release any list information and that it's backordered by the manufacture. Im just annoyed and may cancel all my orders and go back to shooting my ricoh gr.
