Seems odd North America is being signaled out, especially since it's a strong market for luxury products. Importantly, the e-mail says that customer who had put their names on the wait list prior to the announced price increase will not be charged the $ increase. That said, I feel very fortunate that the Leica store in Washington DC sold me my M10 after only 5 weeks after I got on their wait list. It would have been far less trouble to aggressively call small dealers with little or no wait list. I found 2 in a matter of a couple of days. I just got a call from the Las Vegas Leica store here in the US and my M10 Silver was sent out today! I ordered the silver version 5 weeks ago from Leica Store Las Vegas. I was #5 on the list last week and jumped all the way up to #1 this week. The guys at the Las Vegas store were extremely helpful and nice. Excellent customer service! Guess it's time to start calling around to smaller dealers. If I was Tamarkin, I would be furious with Leica. No telling how many sales they will lose due to the nature of the M10 rollout. I can relate. I was told it would be coming soon in February by BH Photo and its now May. I imagine a lot of people are canceling there M10 orders as a result of the wait.
