For four years I have waited for this day which has not come

I think this would be a big win for a lot of people, but I can't see it happening for a little while. A high resolution EVF like the SL would need a lot more processing power, which would generate a lot more heat. Adding it would lead to an increase in body size to accomodate both the bigger battery and the heat dissipation. Heat dissipation was one of the reasons Leica gave for the size of the SL in a recent interview IIRC. I suppose some of the processing and heat dissipation could be passed onto the finder itself, but can you imagine the blowback on a $3k accessory finder that is 4x4x4cm?

Maybe in a few years...

I think that M RF users who want to use a high quality 'accessory' EVF from time to time would accept increased power consumption as an acceptable compromise.  I know I would for when I wanted to use my 28-90 Vario-Elmarit-R or needed to use a very fast M lens wide open in low light. I'd just carry a second battery with me for when I needed to use the EVF.  It's hard to believe that the next M won't have a vastly improved accessory EVF.

I must say that what I sometimes really like about the EVF-2 on the M240 is having a real-time histogram in the VF, much more useful than the light meter.  OMG I can't believe that as a devoted M user I just wrote that    ;)

Exactly. The EVF on my M-P has been a real gamechanger - focusing my Canon 50/1.2 is a breeze, and it makes using my 75 Cron at closer ranges easy.

I hope they stop putting those semi cylindrical ends on the body as if they were containing film spools. Form not following function is so gauche.

You shouldn’t expect radical changes to the design.

Well that would be unfortunate as yet again that would be Leica tacking older technology onto a new flagship camera. If so let's hope that unlike the EVF-2 that it's upgradable.

We could well have another cylindrical end on the top...

Design is one thing, technology another. There is no proven way to predict a camera’s performance from the radius of its rounded corners.

I really liked your comment and word choice about the rounded corners exodies.

The rounded corners however do give the camera a better handling and they do look aesthetically pleasing.

I see you live in Luxembourg

I have always enjoyed my visits to Luxembourg, as a backpacker I made friends with a Mexican and we hung around together.

We sat at the train station watching as drug dealers pushed dope into wealthy, exceptionally elegantly dressed , women's backsides on the stairwell as you go down into the toilets after they handed over their cash.

I was pretty shocked then.

But to me Luxembourg is so stylish and European.

Actually that shape seems to have been designed as a perfect complement to the inside of the human hand. IMHO it's a perfect shape. But I would be extremely happy to see the M9/Typ 262 left side (from back) rather than the bulky M8/Typ 240. That cut-out is much more stylish.

An I really wouldn't want the M to get the sharp edges which (for me) spoil the feel of the SL.  A curve fits the hand better and it can deal with bangs and bumps better too.
