Paulus Posted October 23, 2016 Share #303 Posted October 23, 2016 Actually that shape seems to have been designed .......... Around a roll of film. Yes, just like with the M5...
mjh Posted October 23, 2016 Share #304 Posted October 23, 2016 Why does it matter whether the traditional M shape with its rounded corners fits a film roll inside or the photographer’s hands outside? Rounded corners are here to stay.

jdlaing Posted October 24, 2016 Share #306 Posted October 24, 2016 Argus is dead. Square corners killed it.

Rounded corners are here to stay. M's don't have rounded corners.
Exodies Posted October 24, 2016 Share #309 Posted October 24, 2016 Take a cylinder of clay about the size of a 35mm film canister in your right hand. Grip it and move your fingers as though operating a camera. Examine the clay. Does it still look like a film canister?
jaapv Posted October 24, 2016 Share #310 Posted October 24, 2016 Well, it is not square either.
pop Posted October 24, 2016 Share #311 Posted October 24, 2016 Take a cylinder of clay about the size of a 35mm film canister in your right hand. Grip it and move your fingers as though operating a camera. Examine the clay. Does it still look like a film canister? That appears to be the way designer Colani used to design his goods. They have three notable properties (obviously IMO): they are strikingly ugly, you can use and hold them only when you have hands of the proper size and you can hold and use them in one particular way and position only. Exodies Posted October 24, 2016 Share #312 Posted October 24, 2016 Colani was on the right path. He isn't at the right destination.
Exodies Posted October 24, 2016 Share #313 Posted October 24, 2016 I really liked your comment and word choice about the rounded corners exodies. The rounded corners however do give the camera a better handling and they do look aesthetically pleasing. I see you live in Luxembourg I have always enjoyed my visits to Luxembourg, as a backpacker I made friends with a Mexican and we hung around together. We sat at the train station watching as drug dealers pushed dope into wealthy, exceptionally elegantly dressed , women's backsides on the stairwell as you go down into the toilets after they handed over their cash. I was pretty shocked then. But to me Luxembourg is so stylish and European. I wasn't aware of this drug delivery practice. Are you sure they weren't selling suppositories? The police and their large muzzled dogs roam the station these days.
Paulus Posted October 24, 2016 Share #314 Posted October 24, 2016 We see how well that worked. I meant, that the M5 wasn't shaped around a film rol, but is was al little square. ( This was the " cynical" part, forgot the emoticons ) Not to notice when you hold it in your hands. It felt actually very good. There was another reason for diminishing this marvalous camera I thought.

LocalHero1953 Posted October 24, 2016 Share #318 Posted October 24, 2016 But I could never hold those Rolleis in the palm of my hand - too tiny - I had to use my fingertips. They were light enough not to matter. Edit: the first digital Ixus took the same design approach as the Rollei 35 series.
M28 Posted October 24, 2016 Author Share #319 Posted October 24, 2016 Nhat I'd call good customer service.ly Kerouac was still alive and writing... s-a Well in a Perth, Australia, at a popular night club there was a guy called Mr Miyagi, a nickname as he was chinese, who would acually push the drugs into the rectum, he woukd embrace them and with a rubber glove, in he would go, then he would get a new glove, the girls did not want to get busted by cops for possesion so thats how they wold get their dose and they may not have liked it that much but they liked the drug more. Here it was teenagers and earrly twenties girls trying out some drug. In Luxembourg i think the girls were merely concealing the drugs but packaged in their bum crack presumably strip searching requires a warrant. Not sure. In Perth again a journalist crew used to go and wipe down the counters in the toilets of a selection of rstaurants and nightclubs Plenty of drug residues at the top most expensive clubs frequented by stockbrokers, lawyers and accountants. M28 Posted October 24, 2016 Author Share #320 Posted October 24, 2016 I wasn't aware of this drug delivery practice. Are you sure they weren't selling suppositories? The police and their large muzzled dogs roam the station these days. I honestly dont know if it was suppotories or not. It may have been, its not hard to manufacture suppoitories. I was amazed that the drug dealer was so free and brazen then. I would say there were two dug dealers working together, one in a toilet cubicle with a small stash ready to be flushed, the other on the stairwell, and one bum at a time , they would sell their stash. I have no interest in drugs and even alcohol, good orange juice is what i am fond off. The only other drug use i saw in Luxembourg was at the back packers, i walked into the bathroom late at night and surprised a boyfriend and girlfriend who were sniffing something and with powder all over their faces did not quite know how to explain. Later that night the dorm sounded like a group breathing and moaning contest, all those youngsters could not keep their hands off each other. Mental note for next time, pay morefor a single room.
