Advertisement Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 Hi Wolfrot, Take a look here Camera Bag. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Herr Barnack Posted October 21, 2020 Share #62 Posted October 21, 2020 Over the past couple of years, I have been tempted by different models of both Fogg and Oberwerth camera bags. I have decided that a price range of $600 to $1000 USD for a camera bag is insane. There are more than a few good lenses - Voigtlander in particular - that can be had for the the prices of some Fogg and/or Oberwerth bags. That makes these bags seem to be a bridge to far. There are many very good camera bags available in the $175 to around $350 range that will easily do the job quite well. When I see videos of Magnum photographers out and about making photographs, Billingham bags appear over and over. It seems that Billingham is the point where the lines of craftsmanship, quality, durability and reasonable price all meet. The only negative to Billingham bags is that they are somewhat on the heavy side but that is a result of their sturdy build. All the above having been said, it is not impossible that at some point I may cast practical considerations into the sea and spend the money for a Fogg or an Oberwerth. GAS is a heartless and relentless predator. 🙄
Guest Posted October 21, 2020 Share #63 Posted October 21, 2020 My Billingham bags certainly aren't heavy, I'm always surprised how light they are, compared to similar Ona bags for example.
Herr Barnack Posted October 21, 2020 Share #64 Posted October 21, 2020 Most leather camera bags are heavy when compared to Billingham bags. Oberwereth leather bags aren't bad weight wise, but the prices are out there...
P1505 Posted December 30, 2020 Share #65 Posted December 30, 2020 I’ve decided I need a bag. Never used one before, always travel one camera one lens. Recently decided to always take my 21 with me, which is tiny but I don’t like things in my pockets other than my hands. I want a cross body, messenger style bag. Small. Like the look but not weight of leather. Thinking the ONA Bowery in canvas but... dunno. Have seen an Oberworth now and it’s killing my desire for anything else. The bag will get the days camera to the car, then maybe get worn during the day. In which case it has to look wonderful, as I can’t own ugly things. Its harder choosing this bag than my house. marchyman Posted December 30, 2020 Share #66 Posted December 30, 2020 The Bowery is a bit heavy, at least the one I had was. It also might be larger than you need. I currently use a Peak Design 6L bag which is just large enough to hold both a Q and an M. They now have a 3L bag. which might be the right size for one camera. https://www.peakdesign.com/collections/everyday-bags/products/everyday-sling?variant=31374261780557
ianforber Posted December 30, 2020 Share #67 Posted December 30, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use the Peak Design 3L which is the right size for my Q2, extra battery and a few filters etc. Only tend to use it when I know I might want to put the camera away to be less conspicuous - I usually just carry the Q2 on its own
Herr Barnack Posted December 30, 2020 Share #68 Posted December 30, 2020 @P1505 - I would encourage you to take a look at the Wotancraft Pilot 7 liter bag: https://www.wotancraft.tw/product/pilot-travel-camera-sling-bag-7L-khakibrownC I got one of these for Christmas and it is fantastic; it has become my day to day bag for carrying either my Q2 or my M10 Mono with one lens mounted, a second lens and a spare battery. I have several other messenger style camera bags (including a Billingham Hadley Pro) that I will use depending on circumstances and kit, but the Pilot 7 liter is now my go to bag for every day carry.

I use several systems depending where i take the camera: - Case Logic Bryker Mirrorless Camera case similar to LowePro xxx on page one, fit Q2, thumb grip, handle and finger loop, my everyday city bag in a waterproof sling backpack - LowePro Nova 140 AWII for camera as above + ELPRO52 + Metz 50 AF1 + lens cloth same in the sling backpack or a FREITAG messenger bag - Amphibious sling backpack, waterproof, it has a long zipper so i can take the camera without taking the backpack off, similar to a sling bag, perfect for long walks - FREITAG F18 Rex Messenger Bag where the LowePro Nova + PeakDesign Tripod goes, and i can store additional clothing or groceries on the way back home, good for city walks I used several photo backpacks before to transport my DSLR rig but i switched to a photo trolley as i dont have it on my back on airports. Now the TEMBA photo trolley stores all my electronic stuff; laptop, cables, chargers, underwater Housing, dive torch, dive computer, external disks, etc, etc It is always fun to pass the security control..... I guess in fifty international flights it happend only once i had not took everything out, e-rayed and then back in Chris
erniethemilk Posted January 1, 2021 Share #71 Posted January 1, 2021 If I’m out for the day I have a Billingham Hadley small or a Peak Design everyday 3 litre bag big enough for what I want to take and use a wrist strap. If I’m just out for an hour or so and take the camera with me I just use a neck strap long enough to fit cross body. Both neck & wrist straps I use are from a small leather company called 595strapco
BBHewee Posted January 1, 2021 Share #72 Posted January 1, 2021 Has anyone used an A+A 75 pouch? I want something so I can throw the camera into a backpack or any other bag without worry of damage.

mpogorzelski Posted January 1, 2021 Share #77 Posted January 1, 2021 As a longtime Domke fan, I bought a Crosstown Courier Black model. Small with a few clever solutions.

I don't know anything about an A+A 75 pouch, but I do use a Tenba BYOB insert in a variety of backpacks and a Barbour bag. It works well and can also be used as a stand-alone bag with a Peak Design shoulder strap
Torontoamateur Posted January 3, 2021 Share #79 Posted January 3, 2021 What do you think of the ONA Camera Satchel ? I think its very nice and very classy. Stands out for sure but does not really look like a camera bag.

Stands out for sure but does not really look like a camera bag. Not sure on what model you refer, but they are too classy and impractical for my use. Also i dont' like when they have straps and buckles, that makes it too slow to open then if i need the camera quickly. I prefer a cheapo solution to hide the precious content of a 0815 bag, in shady location i also used a 2 cent shopping plastic bag However, that is my way of thinking and for sure ONA makes very nice bags and they will fit the needs of other persons and are a classy home for our beloved Leica.
