Loren Posted November 22, 2015 Share #43 Posted November 22, 2015 Just bought the SF40 from Adorama. It's in stock and fully compatible to the M240. Yeah, now I can replace my SF24d with something that swivels like god intended.
Luke_Miller Posted November 22, 2015 Share #44 Posted November 22, 2015 Just bought the SF40 from Adorama. It's in stock and fully compatible to the M240. Does the SF-40 have an Auto mode? Or is it TTL and Manual only?
Loren Posted November 22, 2015 Share #45 Posted November 22, 2015 Does the SF-40 have an Auto mode? Or is it TTL and Manual only? The specs say manual and TTL only.
Loren Posted November 22, 2015 Share #46 Posted November 22, 2015 UPDATE:Adorama just sent a notice saying my flash was backordered, despite what the assistant said yesterday. No date given for its arrival.

wattsy Posted November 24, 2015 Share #50 Posted November 24, 2015 The specs say manual and TTL only. Yes, I think that is the case. Which is a pity for me because I want to use the flash with my non-TTL film bodies and auto mode is the easy option. I might still get one because, if it is like the i40, it has a direct dial for manual output which makes adjusting the flash very easy (I'd just need to meter the flash at different outputs and subject distances and try and memorise the key settings ). wlaidlaw Posted November 27, 2015 Share #51 Posted November 27, 2015 Since the M240 has the same smart shoe as the Olympus PEN cameras, would an Olympus flash work? It flashes but that is all. No control.
ayewing Posted November 27, 2015 Share #52 Posted November 27, 2015 It flashes but that is all. No control. Not surprising as the control pins in the hot shoe have a different layout. The Pana Leicas have the same layout as Olympus/Panasonic cameras but the M and X series are different - similar to Nikon but the control systems are different. jaapv Posted November 28, 2015 Share #53 Posted November 28, 2015 IMO the benefit of TTL flash it rather limited. I guess I'll stick with my ancient Metz32CT7. The only Leica M shaped flash ever. Superb, if dated, user interface and very good results. Fully functional on an Nikon 343SCA adapter too
cirke Posted December 7, 2015 Share #54 Posted December 7, 2015 Do you know why it is nowhere in stock actually ?
freitz Posted December 14, 2015 Share #55 Posted December 14, 2015 I find the sF 24D frustrating. Been looking for a way to bounce without going to the SF58. Looks like this could be it.
Andykcole Posted December 18, 2015 Share #56 Posted December 18, 2015 Arrived today works fine on M240 with multi grip used in A mode or TTL with 180th all ok it won't use any focus light of course nice looking easy to use and made in China of course pricey for what it is but I like it

mexipike Posted December 23, 2015 Share #60 Posted December 23, 2015 Any idea wether or not this flash will work with TTL with the first version monochrom (M9)? It'd be really awesome if it did but I'm worried it won't. Also, it would be really awesome if I could use it with whatever wireless feature they are talking about. I love off camera flash but Leica seems to really not want to make that easy for me!
