I received a notice the flash is available at B&H. Bad timing as I just returned from vacation where I wanted to use it's HSS function. 
I guess I'll put it on hold for now and see what others report.

just got notice from the local Leica retailer here in Oslo, Norway that my SF40 preorder is in stock and can be picked up.

Since i had a hard time finding pictures of this flash, other than the straight from the front product pictures, i'll post some pictures of the flash alone, and on the Q so people can get a better impression of how it looks, and how big it is

 

I'm very happy with it so far, nice size and weight, seems absolutely capable and powerful enough for most scenarios when i have the Q with me.

I have the Nissin i40 in the version for Olympus/Panasonic which also works with the Panasonic Leicas - I use it with my D-Lux 109 as well as with my Olympus gear. It is not compatible with the Leica M, X and T models as they use the Leica flash system. Unfortunately Nissin do not supply a model for the Leica M which is a pity as they cost about twice as much in the rebadged Leica M version.

I've just ordered one.  judging by the controls on the back, it doesn't look to hard to use, which is just as well if there's no manual with the flash!

Anyone, if you get a chance please upload a sample of HSS in use.
I'd really like to see how it handles the daylight and higher shutter speeds.

Still would really love if this flash works in TTL mode with a leica monochrom m9 version, if any of you who are trying can find one to test it out on that would be awesome!

Wait, does this mean it can sync at fast shutter speeds (beyond the usual 1/125, or whatever)?  Sorry for the newbie question, I'm not familiar with 'HSS'.

Page 15 of the i40 manual mentioned earlier refers to HSS as does page 194 of the Leica M manual
