lct Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1801 Posted October 20, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) As i suspected it is not a Leicaflex-like body but a smaller one close to the R4-R7 hopefully.
Advertisement Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Hi lct, Take a look here NEW M.. This year.. This Fall.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mooky Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1802 Posted October 20, 2015 Well, since no one here (that we know of) has used the SL yet, the design is a bit disappointing. But I'm almost shamelessly hooked to the SL/SL2 designs both visually and in hand. So that's what I would've liked to have been - some design lineage to the original family tree. As has been already mentioned, it's the in hand, ergonomics that matter. Oh, in all kinds of weather, hot, cold, dry, wet....in the field.
Paul J Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1803 Posted October 20, 2015 also funny is that other rumour sites such as Sony Rumors have posted pictures of the real thing before any Leica Rumor site.
colonel Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1804 Posted October 20, 2015 We should all plot ourselves now on Roger's new product adoption curve
lct Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1805 Posted October 20, 2015 I need to know how M & R adapters work in the first place.
Mistral75 Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1806 Posted October 20, 2015 4-million dot EVF seems to be a new record after the Q's 3.68 million, isn't it?
cpclee Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1807 Posted October 20, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) If they would decide in 2010 that the R system could not survive the crowded SLR market, I fail to see why they think this thing can survive today's (equally crowded) mirrorless market. I see little that's unique apart from the price tag.
lct Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1808 Posted October 20, 2015 High isos would be exceptionally clean as i understand it...
edwardkaraa Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1809 Posted October 20, 2015 High ISO, EVF resolution and refresh rates will be matched and outdone by competition. What is most important to me is lens performance, how it plays with M lenses, and if it has a distinctive design. The first two are still a question mark, the third unfortunately doesn't tick the box.
Jeff S Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1810 Posted October 20, 2015 also funny is that other rumour sites such as Sony Rumors have posted pictures of the real thing before any Leica Rumor site. Likely due to their new approach, which was explained in my post here.... http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/248322-new-m-this-year-this-fall/?p=2887922 If this continues, they'll need to rename the site to Leica Testers. mooky Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1811 Posted October 20, 2015 Just a simple observation; the image is not necessarily to scale in relation to the lenses and body, although the mount size looks close, we'll know for sure as the hours tick forward. I'm much more interested in wide angle designs that will hopefully come along.
MT0227 Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1812 Posted October 20, 2015 Also quite distinct from the M, in the sense that if you want small FF lenses, the M will be the only game in town, ever ... ....and the reason for my first ever Leica purchase (M-P 240) 3 weeks ago, knowing this was coming. SL = different tool, different purpose; I have a D810 with faster glass when the situation calls for it. Have to say, those situations have been reduced over the last 3 weeks
ebf Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1813 Posted October 20, 2015 So, Leica is just releasing the T they should have released last year. I like the looks, but my A7 fits the bill nicely... and both the SL or the A7 will never replace my M Hope this is a hit for Leica. Just not for me. erlingmm Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1814 Posted October 20, 2015 I was holding back my upgrade to the S007 until this release, based on the rumour of an "S light". No reason to hold back, the 007 and lenses are slightly bigger, but with the best finder in the world - I think I will never get used to an EVF, not even the Q, although I enjoy that camera, too. cpclee Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1815 Posted October 20, 2015 I would have called this the Leica T Plus if it was unto me So, Leica is just releasing the T they should have released last year. edwardkaraa Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1816 Posted October 20, 2015 Someone commented on another forum about the size of the 50 lux, which indicates it has been designed for a thick sensor cover. This doesn't bode well for M glass adaptation.
AlanJW Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1817 Posted October 20, 2015 I would have called this the Leica T Plus if it was unto me Or S Minus. "S" "L"ess.
IWC Doppel Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1818 Posted October 20, 2015 Yawn, another Camera I have no interest in...............
Belle123 Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1819 Posted October 20, 2015 I think I am in the yawn camp as well on the SL. Still want to see more info. But the M240 remains my camera. Long live the M!
gyoung Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1820 Posted October 20, 2015 Again (and again)... show us your sharp corners please. There is a special thread just for you (link). It is a pity that you don't post there because some people like yours truly would be interested actually and those who are absent are always wrong. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/249421-sony-fans-show-your-sharp-corners-with-m-r-wides/ Well if you really want to see what can be done with the Sony's go to Fred Miranda, there's plenty there, without the strain of disaproval there is round here. And there is a MUCH longer thread than the one you started about the Sonys with Leica lenses here, on the Photo Forum/Other if you are interested, although I can't remember anything about the modified cameras there. Even if this SL does do well with M wides its far too expensive, not much different to an M240 surely which I would prefer to have, if I could afford so much money for an ephemeral electronic gizmo. The A7 with the same megapixels and a tilting screen to boot cost about a fifth of the price, and the rest will buy some good lenses. Gerry
