Found this chick on the ground a few days ago. We could not locate its nest so we are trying to keep it safe from my dog  until it can fly. The chick is not ready to fly but close. We feed it and keep it in a crate lashed to a tree. Adult waxwings come and feed the chick also and check on it. I think the chick will be ready to be released in a few days. It's been an interesting experience.  I-zoom used for these images.

Waxwing images posted earlier showing chick and adults.

Opened the door of the crate holding the waxwing chick this morning. The adult waxwings watched and called for the chick. Happy to say the chick bolted from the crate in flight. 

Now I have to watch two barn swallow chicks in my barn. Seems their mud nest is falling apart.

This is an accidental photograph. The goldfinch was sitting on a zinnia flower and as soon as I lifted my camera it  flew into the tri color beach tree. The sun was in my face from the left and I kind of clicked in the general direction at max iZoom. 

The result after some cropping was much better than I anticipated. 😊
