XP2 usually scans beautifully - unless it is considerably over exposed. A thick negative scans badly and appears to have seriously bad grain. This is not the case when printing - only in scanning (my experience). XP2 seems to provide ideal negatives when it assumed to be a 200 ASA film. Great shadow detail, and highlights still have loads of detail. HAndled this way, it is sharp, vry fine grained, and its tones are long and beautiful. As good as, or better than, anything else available.
