Does anyone has the technical description or experience with/for the Summarit 50mm / f2.4

the web site only provides the details for the Summarit 50mm / f2.5

No experience with the new lens sorry. One could think that the specs of Summarit 50/2.5 and 50/2.4 are exactly the same but the filter thread, at least, is different (E46 vs E39).

One thing is for sure and that is, whether or not there is actually any discernible difference, buyers of the new Summarits will like them better than the "old" ones. There will be better subject separation from the F2.4 compared with the F2.5 and the "rendering" will be nicer.

 

Joking aside, the two longer lenses appear to have the minimum focussing distance reduced: now 0.7m and 0.9m for the 75mm and 90mm respectively. That is a genuine improvement and I may take a look at the 90mm at some point this year.

Yes, Leica so-called keepers are cylindrical containers with foam inserts to protect the lens when not on the camera.

Yes, that's exactly what it is. A nice leather case with a tag that you keep in its original box only to be used if you do decide to sell your lens.

 

There are many alternate cases and socks (lots of threads) that you can use to keep your lens when carrying it in a bag (also a lot of threads).

The weakening Euro, the 250 saving and announced price increases motivated me to order my compact and light weight travel set before Christmas, including 28 Elmarit, 50 Summarit, 90 ME. The package arrived yesterday.

I had a big Nikon kit stored, untouched in a foam padded case for over ten years. No foggy lenses, but much of the foam decomposed into a sticky tar-like goo!
