Silver chrome to black paint … 😎

You were able to change your silver chrome M-A to Black Paint? You sir, are legendary!

I've asked Leica store Sydney if I could do this to my M-A 3 times over the last couple of years and they always so its not possible.

Can you kindly tell me the magic word! Lol. Good on you. Please show the end result! Im so jealous but happy for you!

Kanto Camera is another option http://www.kantocamera.com/english/repair/custom.html#paint

I’ve not used them for repainting of bodies (or lenses, which they also do), but I’ve had a BP M4 and two 35 Summarons overhauled there. Their work is immaculate, and often faster than expected.

No magic words should be necessary, Leica does offer this as part of the Redesign program:

Cameraworks-UK offers a similar service too:

Why not buying an M2 and painting it black, I think to myself. :)

I did that with this M3...

Do you mind sharing who did the work?  I'm thinking about doing the same thing with an M3.

After selling off my M glass to fund other ventures (I’ve been more focused on my Hasselblad lately and I expanded my lens lineup in that arena to further that work) I decided to revisit Voigtlander’s more recent offerings and I have to say, I am super impressed with how far they’ve come when it comes to construction and build quality. The 50mm Nokton II and 28mm Ultron II are both rock-solid and a fantastic physical size on my M-A. Well balanced and easy to focus.

For how inexpensive these are (in Leica terms), I am very very happy with them and they make a great partner for my M-A. To that effect, I’ve been shooting this M-A regularly since 2015 and it still hasn’t ever missed a beat. I have not yet required any servicing though I may send it in eventually as I did knock the rangefinder out of alignment slightly a while back. Was easy enough to adjust back to spec myself but probably wouldn’t hurt to have it looked at someday.

I love everything about my M-A except its 75 mm framelines. I'm sure one can eventually get used to them if given enough time, but I'm not there yet. 😞

About 75 framelines in M-A :

- trying to remember when this '75' had bothered my '50' using, I failed to ...

- these are the best minimalist 'framelines', if we can say these four corner brackets as 'framelines', in other M (less M4-P), '75' framelines are more visible

- in my view, those are not bothering as they are inside four 'complete lines' of '50'

- I learn to use them or ignore them since M4-P with Summilux 75mm, long time ago

- M VF use is anyway not for accurate framing but I see only as rough guide for to-be-picture

- I thank Leica to this return to M4-P frames in M-A as I'm user of 50mm along 75mm as tight framing 50 👍

I agree. But the way Leica chose to deal with the 75 mm makes it a bit rougher than it has to be.

If you don't use 75mm lens, M4 or M4-2, even M5 (another underrated M) CLAed would be better choice.

These are as good as M-A even some of mine are 'better' (smoother in use, less noise, with the very nice rewind crank, etc.) 😉.

That's the problem. I do use a 75 mm. 😞
I wish I had real framelines for it. I will, eventually, get used to those sorry corner points. Hopefully. But until then, to me they're one noticeable flaw in an otherwise marvellous camera.

I even struggle with the 75mm framelines in my M7, even though they’re less minimal than the M-A’s. I am not sure how much it’s muscle memory (given I’ve predominantly been a 50mm user my whole time with Leica Ms, so it’s the 50mm framelines that i naturally look to) …. or whether it’s something that I will continue to struggle with using my 75mm. I’m starting to think it might be the latter.
