This is an image shot on the Nocti 1.0. I love the lens, but find it requires precise control, for which you need patience!!

Unless you must have a Noctilux and cannot afford both that would be the only reason. There are a lot of folks that use a Noctilux for their every day 50. The APO in my judgment is a much better every day 50. I own both plus a couple more 50's. I would not sell any on them. FWIW

Ditto ....... 50 is one focal length where the different characteristics of lenses show up quite easily and it is a sufficiently versatile FL that you can happily chop and change to create a different look and keep things fresh...... even with the same subject matter ....

I also have a pile of 50's and would not sell any unless I had to ....... and if that was the case it would be the 50 apo and the Nocti 0.95 that I would keep at all costs .....

a couple of outside-of-the-box suggestions:

-keep the 50APO and, rather than buying into the same focal length, purchase a 75mm summilux. You'll get the same if not more pornographic bokeh that is more suitable for a true portrait lens but also can be used for street shooting (not as veristile in this regard as the 50mm, but you already have the 50mm!).

-give up the 50APO, purchase your 50 nocti (I would buy the f1 over the 0.95 for the MM, even if they were the same price) and wait for the 28m summilux, which will likely have similar crazy sharpness and also similar bokeh as the 50APO, which you can use as an true all-out street photography lens with which you will be able to swallow people whole and view them later on your computer screen and prints with the clarity and sharpness as if you can reach out and touch them.

As for me, I plan to take a hybrid approach for my MM enjoyment - I happily chose the 75mm lux over the nocti and have my eye on the new 28 lux (and in the meantime am using an old 28mm summaron, which with the MM provides quite a unique fingerprint in its own right)

I have a 35FLE and the new 50 APO for my Monochrom. Obviously the 50 is magic on that camera. However, I keep looking at images shot on the Noctilux both 0.95 and f1. I know it's a heavier lens, but with a one or two lens system it's not a big deal with a small bag (I have the ona). My question is, would you sell the APO and get a noctilux or keep the APO and save up for the 0.95 or F1?

Thank you

If i were you, instead of asking what lens to keep or what not, i would focus on making more money so i can own more Leica lens. Those three 50' Leica lens (new APO, Summilux asph and Noctilux 0.95) are worth to buy and keep for good. I own three of them and i am in love with them from the first sight and my first try :)

For me it is simple, sell me the Apo for 2000 EUR and buy a Noctilux :D

Now for serious: keep the Apo and once you've got the money and still want the Nocti 0.95 then buy it. If you are looking for one stop more compared to the Apo, try the Summilux 1.4/50 asph, it is a very good lens, quite sharp in the center wide open, and very sharp when you stop it down, in the corners it is never extremely sharp. There the Apo is much better, the Nocti however is never anywhere as sharp as the Lux.

That's just my two cents.

I want to return to the past to not make this mistake.

I bought 50 f1.4 "apo" and 50 pre asph asph, also the Summicron, and then sold.

Simply I NEVER AGAIN BUY THESE LENSES.

First I had the Noctilux f1 Noctilux F0.95 now, is my lens for all day, never detached from the monochrom.

It's the frog becomes prince, is the magic that has become crystal.

It weighs more, is larger, but no lens that looks like this for many things for me.

F2 apo asph ??, no thanks, too crisp for me.

Each person will give you a different opinion.

Look here to see magic:
