all the people who use Auto ISO the normal way wouldn't have to reset the ISO mode every time we switched in and out of A. This new way requires the same amount of steps as the old way. Leica doesn't completely "get" digital.

I still don't understand sorry. The M240 does work the same way as my Fuji X-E2 now. I don't have to reset iso mode in any way. I just set the shutter speed dial to any shutter speed to enter in auto + manual mode and revert to the "A" position of same dial to enter in auto + auto mode again.

I'm also happy with the new f/w, though the Auto ISO bug was the only issue that caused me, occasionally, to screw up pictures..

A warning for those not yet updated: my settings were all reset e.g. the image format was set to jpg (previously dng only)auto off was set to 3 mins (previously off). I don't use user profiles, so I don't know if it affected those.

Edit: and I like seeing the ISO number in white again.

One thing that puzzles me is that my M is set to DNG only but I can still alter the settings for Saturation, Sharpness, and Contrast in the menu. I can't remember whether this was the way it was pre-2.0.1.5 but I'm not sure why they're not greyed out. Not a problem or a gripe, just puzzled.

Pete.

I confess I haven't fully figured this out yet. If it turns out you can set Auto ISO to work in manual mode and in aperture priority mode without having to select Auto ISO for each mode every time you switch, then I was wrong and it is as good as fixed.

Two things that don't seem to have been mentioned yet...

1) If User Profiles have been created and saved to a card they can be successfully reloaded to avoid going through the process of regenerating them.

2) If one of the profiles had the exposure bracketing enabled when the profile was saved it will be there on reloading the profile and (glory be) it will now come back after the M is cycled off then back on!

I wonder if I'm doing something wrong but the magnification feature when focusing via EVF and live view isn't working on the new firmware for me. Could I have forgotten how to set it or is anyone else having a similar problem?

Check the Focus Aid setting? It was set to Manual after update. You may have had it set to Auto previously.

Thanks LocalHero, I think I figured it out. You initially need to use the little control wheel in the upper right to set the desired magnification in auto mode. It defaults to that setting from then on. Can't recall if this is new or if I had to do it in previous firmware as well, but it's working now.

Yep, this function is now working much better and is now useful for me. And, it is nice to be able to now set it up as a User Profile to make it even faster to access! (It was mentioned in post 61 under #8).

Very excited about all the improvements in this update. Thanks Leica!

A question for you all: This firmware has reset the number that was being used to name the photographs. Is it possible to reset it to start counting from the last number I had (9417 in my case)? I've looked at the manual and I didn't find anything relevant there.

Thanks!

I have too busy a day to try it out (but not busy enough to stop me from reading the forum :) ) but since I have talked plenty about this firmware in anticipation, I feel I should tip my hat to Leica for releasing this firmware. It seems to have plenty of new features and adresses most/all? bugs.

Looking forward to trying it.

And make sure the magnification is not set to 1X which is the default. Use thumb wheel, when in magnification mode, to set it to 5X or 10X.

I don't get the scare quotes around "fix." No other pro camera implements Auto ISO the way the M240 did. It was broken. For what you're saying to be true there would have to exist some set of users that wanted to only use Auto ISO while they were in aperture priority and then wanted it to automatically default to the last manual ISO when they switched to manual. Why? That's like saying they should add a fifth tire when somebody gets a flat because some drivers might find the flat tire useful. If anyone like that existed, which I doubt, it would make more sense for them to switch to a manual ISO that worked for the light conditions instead of defaulting to "last selected." Meanwhile, all the people who use Auto ISO the normal way wouldn't have to reset the ISO mode every time we switched in and out of A. This new way requires the same amount of steps as the old way. Leica doesn't completely "get" digital.

I think you are confused with the new functionality. Please try it out, it now works perfectly and has optional settings for those that prefer a different method. There is nothing to "fix", it is now fixed.
