biglou Posted May 28, 2015 Share #202 Posted May 28, 2015 The problem with this lens is that it induces moire even in the M240, on architectural subjects! Are you certain ? On my M9 or MM (first) i never saw any hint of moire with my apo-summicron 50mm. Zeiss 35mm C biogon does it all the time, SEM 24mm also, not this one, at all. Maybe i should have it checked ? Jennifer Posted June 8, 2015 Share #207 Posted June 8, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) The more I use the APO 50 the more I appreciate just what a super lens it is. If only I could swap my other FL's with lenses of similar quality.
dugby Posted June 9, 2015 Share #208 Posted June 9, 2015 Looking over the heart of the city. handheld image, F/2 with ND filter attached. 06072015_014_RiverWalk_3.jpg I have not used this lens (APO 50MM). So I am curious about why you chose to use f2.0 with an ND filter, as opposed to maybe f5.6 / f8 and no ND filter. I understand the purpose of the ND filter in over-exposure situations, but I am more interested in the painting effect of f2.0 vs f5.6 for long distance scenery shots like yours ? lpeeples Posted June 9, 2015 Share #209 Posted June 9, 2015 If I can ask, what did you use to shoot Macro with the 50 APO?
keenr Posted June 9, 2015 Share #210 Posted June 9, 2015 Admittedly, not the best setup. I was using the ND at the time for other shots when this view appeared. Decided to snap and despite the less than prefered f-stop, im amazed at the rendering of this lens.

skimmel Posted June 10, 2015 Share #212 Posted June 10, 2015 Rented the lens and the M240. Here's a couple (the B&W is converted from color). You can see more at the link below. And, in case you're interested, almost all the B&W on the site below are with the Monochrom M246 and 24mm f/2.8 (I own only the lens, also rented the Monochrom). Right now I use M9 but am trading if for M240 and probably the Apo 50 as well! Link to more: http://sekadk.zenfolio.com/gladwynememorialday15 Welcome, dear visitor! Printmaker Posted June 11, 2015 Share #214 Posted June 11, 2015 People always say something like this when presented with data after the fact. But when presented with prints, with no information about format or camera or lens, they generally have no clue, other than a lucky guess here or there. Far too many variables involved. I know; I've tried it. Jeff I understand your point. I have two 50 Summicrons, one 43 years older than the other and tested both for use on the Monochrom. Both had recent CLAs. I was having such a hard time telling which was which that I ended up placing the unused lens in the rest of the photos to tell them apart. (http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/246177-leica-50mm-in-the-1000-1250usd-range/). I ran the test because I was trying to decide which lens to sell and which to keep. I still have both because they are so close that it is hard to decide. Would a new Apo be better? Sure... but after this test, I'm not sure that I'd bother. skimmel Posted June 12, 2015 Share #217 Posted June 12, 2015 Fantastic Angelcal! How do you get such nice light on faces? Are you using natural light? flash? reflectors? I like them all but particularly like the 1st - makes me want to know what she'd thinking - , the 4th (makes me pause and look twice), and the 8th (so expressive). Thanks for posting.
