Advertisement Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Hi pragmatist, Take a look here Leica M.....black or silver?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted June 7, 2014 Share #2 Posted June 7, 2014 I have a black M9 and black MM so I debated and pondered and went for the silver Having some silver chrome lenses did have an influence on my decision as well Which ever color you get, congrats! Echo63 Posted June 7, 2014 Share #3 Posted June 7, 2014 I went with black, i pefer the look of a brassed black camera, and i jntend using and owning my M long enough to get it to look that way
tookaphotoof Posted June 7, 2014 Share #4 Posted June 7, 2014 I have both my MP and M6 in silver. I usually prefer that over black. The problem with the M240 is its bulkiness, so I chose black.
Herr Barnack Posted June 7, 2014 Share #5 Posted June 7, 2014 Black - no question about it. With the possible exception of the M3, Leica M cameras should always be black. JMHO.
r7photo Posted June 7, 2014 Share #6 Posted June 7, 2014 Lol, no easy answer, I owned black m9, then silver m9p, then Crome 240, which currently own, sometimes wish I got black , but happy with Crome Both nice, just focus of shooting,
Bill W Posted June 7, 2014 Share #7 Posted June 7, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) I ended up with one of each.
jaapv Posted June 8, 2014 Share #8 Posted June 8, 2014 I got a black one because it was available, I would have been just as happy with a silver one. One thing I noticed: the black coating on the M240 is far more resilient than the one on the M9. It does not brass easily.
leica1215 Posted June 8, 2014 Share #9 Posted June 8, 2014 M first M is black for some reason sold it, second one is silver, and third one is black, now I prefer silver over black but happy with what i have now.
MarkP Posted June 8, 2014 Share #10 Posted June 8, 2014 I hate it when I can't decide what colour Leica M240 to buy I couldn't resist this. The kids showed me these last night.
AnakChan Posted June 8, 2014 Share #11 Posted June 8, 2014 I got a black one because it was available, I would have been just as happy with a silver one. One thing I noticed: the black coating on the M240 is far more resilient than the one on the M9. It does not brass easily. Now you tell me :-). I've been going with silver Leica's (M6TTL, M7, M9, & now M240) cos I'm not a fan of brassing. I was actually researching at the shop when they asked me "Black or silver, sir?". Oh well silver still looks nice.
hamey Posted June 8, 2014 Share #12 Posted June 8, 2014 Both my M7 and M240 are silver chrome. Black is ok on some cameras, Canon and Nikon etc. But in my view the silver chrome exposes all the curves and beauty of the M design, on the otherhand the black model could be anything, a piece of plastic block. Silver chrome is simply timeless on the M series. Ken. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Ken. And that's exactly why I chose black. My chrome M4 is gorgeous, and screams, "Steal Me!" The M 240 is black and (with a bit of black electrical tape) could be just another plastic point & shoot. It whispers, "Ignore Me."
Herr Barnack Posted June 8, 2014 Share #15 Posted June 8, 2014 Awwww, dammit - the chrome M240 is beautiful, too. If you can't decide, get one of each and minimalism be damned. We live but once.
250swb Posted June 8, 2014 Share #16 Posted June 8, 2014 The M240 is big fat porky piglet, and chrome makes it look even fatter. Not flattering to the M ethos especially as the M8/M9 was only just a bit bigger than a film M. But my M240 is chrome and it is OK, I don't criticise a friend. MarkP Posted June 8, 2014 Share #17 Posted June 8, 2014 Mine is chrome, the colour I wanted as my M9 and Monochrom are black. My first world problem was that: "I hate it when my M240 has a red dot" so I got a black one .
tom0511 Posted June 8, 2014 Share #18 Posted June 8, 2014 i had my m8, m9 and mm in black, but for some reason I do like my M in silver. I first had an order for a black one but then changed it to silver and I am happy with the silver camer. even got a silver 35 Summicron for it which is my most used lens at the moment. Putting my M9 and M240 side by side they are exactly the same size....
Jeff S Posted June 9, 2014 Share #20 Posted June 9, 2014 What do you feed your camera on? Putting my M9 and M240 side by side they are exactly the same size.... I just put my M8.2 and M240 top to top and bottom to bottom…nary a difference. But I think I just produced a mini M. Jeff
