Been photographing on digital gear for over 15 years. I may have printed some random shots 25 years ago on film BUT this is my first owned FILM gear.. based on some advice from folks on this forum, I bought a used Nikon FM2.. I had an old dubblefilm jelly 200 lying around the house and used it for my experimental shooting.. The results are not as bad I thought they might be.. my next roll should be better than these.. :D

This one was shot with petzval lomography lens (didn't have the aperture control metal inserts.. so all shot wide open.)

Absolutely, to the letter, the shadows become their own calligraphy, floating in a composition of defiance that challenges the site (as well as the sight). Bravo, Adan.

Well I reckon it's been 5 years since you saw him.

I have thought of another example:

Consider marriage. In youthful ignorance the concept seems seems so simple.....manageable.....paradisaical . As the years pass, our ignorance diminishes; complexity (unpredictability of spousal response) weighs more heavily in paradise. Early on, our ignorance shielded us.........Not from consequence, but from being so aware of the possibilities - the broad array- of the consequences we face. At all times.

Thus, the genius of Hugo.

Best,

Wayne

Thank you for this. A beautiful quote indeed. One to revisit at different stages of life.
It is past time I re-read (and read) some of his work.

Thank you for sharing.

BTW I should mention that my new M-2 is a Frankencamera. Some previous owner had it updated with an M4-type rapid-load mechanism and bottom plate, and M4 framelines (now includes 135 viewing). "It's ALIVE!!! hahaHAHAHAH!!" ;)

Welcome back in the fold. Having some films, especially colour films lying around in different places in the house is a worthwhile undertaking. First exposed to the trials of time, humidity and temperature, then re-discovered and used they often seem to render intriguing results. This commonly due to colour shifts, partial delimitation, excessive grain, etc., And the most satisfying results can the be happily summarised with the beautiful word serendipity afterwards...🙂

When in doubt, return to a favourite subject.  Curious to see how cine-film works, used a roll of Kodak Vision3 500T (without a filter), lab-processed in ECN2/Remjet chemicals.  First impressions:  getting white balance right without using a filter takes some fiddling; also, the film does not reward over-exposure (some say it should be rated 800 when not using a filter in daylight).  Having said that, grain and sharpness are impressive, as is the pastel look.

Beautiful! Is that a labscan or do you scan it by yourself. I like your slightly yelloish colours...

Nikon Coolscan 5000ED, imported as DNG to Capture One for adjustment then exported as TIFF to ColorFXPro to add the border, finally back to Capture One to write out the Jpeg.  White balance set in Capture One to about 6500Kelvin to compensate for lack of 85 filter.  Good argument for shooting a grey card at same time and location as the shot.
