An image from some years back; I joined a conference in Iceland with some colleagues. After the conference we toured a little around in northern Iceland. The image shows Icelandic turf houses at Glaumbær í Skagafirði. Turf houses have been used for more than 1000 years, and is an option where wood is limited (or used for other purposes, like for boats) and where rocks are not easily accessible or not suited (like magma). A genuinely interesting place to visit! Mamiya 7II, 65mm, Maco IR 820c film and B+H 092-filter.

Excellent, they don't make them like that anymore 😉.

Were you following the footsteps of Eduard Boubat?

Thank you sincerely Christoph. Regarding Eduardo Boubat - I wish! One of my major influences and a big reason I wanted to travel and see a bit of the world, taking pictures. But I don’t really understand- this Portuguese fisherman doesn’t look so much like Lella…

You went to the wrong country! The famous picture of Lella was taken in Brittany 😃

I was fascinated to learn that all fire hydrants in Canada seem to be made by this company. I didn't even know it was a real name, knowing it only from the schoolboy joke about the two Scottish gentlemen, Ben Doone and Phil McAvity/

Excellent shot Phil. Makes my eyes hunt around for perspective to get a feel for the size of whatever it is they're seeing. What's the shadow in the foreground? Looks like a motorcycle.

Very nice Peter. I like how the umbrella upsets all the lines.

Very good Chris. I'm happy to see your Retro 80 shots. I've used this too and find it a truly terrific film. In fact I even prefer it to Pan F.

This is the same perimeter fence that can be seen in a previous photo. In addition, there is a guard post with a com-box and several types of security cameras, all of which feed video to the also shown earlier. An interesting detail is the rectangular blueish structure in the middle. This is where accused and convicted persons were brought by the Dutch authorities which transported them from the United Nations Detention Unit located in a wing of a Dutch prison. This also explains the gate in the fence; the transport vehicle exited this way.
