A little break from the nightscapes with some b&w. I needed to finish a roll in my M4 and went into the garden for willing subjects. This is with always excellent Ilford XP2 which I developed in HC110 dilution H. This would have been at about box speed or thereabouts.

Very elegant outlines and nice framing. Did you use a filter or is the dark rendering of the leaves an XP2 property ?

No Steve, sorry, the glowing shot is with the 90 year old Elmar. I knew it had slight "coating damage" to the front element, if it's possible to have that on a non-coated lens. But after a few shots like this I removed the (fixed) lens and the rear element is a mess. Weird though, how it became a mess is unclear. I'd dearly love to rectify it, if possible, as the old girl has a heap if sentimental.

Gary, take it as a feature, acquired by years of dutiful service....

very good, Antonio. The TLR viewfinder is really helpful for this age...

information overload

I can relate to the fascination of the visual overload---here amplified by the ( for me ) enigmatic billboards.....

Very nice Sharif, and nice  to see that I'm not the only one who's fascinated with  industrial areas.  I'm not quite clear how that can be-because deep in my heart I'm more for symmetry and nature....

Stunning landscape and an almost perilous perspective, Jörg. What a view.

Thanks. I didn't use a filter. The frame is probably a little bit underexposed as I guesstimated the shutter speed.

Berlin City West Minox GT-E Kodak Color

Hello,

here some old picture from the Berlin S-Bahn. In the 1980ties I took a lot photos of the S-Bahn. I found it fascinating because during the cold war Berlin was departed in east and west and the S-Bahn was run from the east, even in West-Berlin until 1984 (this was hand over to the western BVG a few years before the end of the GDR). The GDR uses only the oldest trains for duty in West-Berlin. So all the trains there are from the 1920ties and 1930ties and looked like half a century before. This was also a time travel. A lot of lines where closed and even in the train-stations time seemed to stand still. The S-Bahn is also my first memorization when I was a child.

Maybe I will post some more of my S-Bahn pictures from time to time. Will take some time to scan them all.

Hope you enjoy it;-)

Trains waiting out of duty at Berlin-Gesundbrunnen 1986

A symbol of Berlin - the S-Bahn - the charismatic red and yellow trains rattling  overhead or racing around the city. Lovely memories, great photographs.
