I usually don't overdo that. This might have measured as a 45-60 secs or something thereabouts and I probably added 30 secs.

Love the drama in the out of focus clouds.

This is truly terrific. I really like how the very narrow field of focus plays across the wires. Such nice three-dimensionality. Really well done.

Well done for handheld.

Speaking of clouds, these are delightful and the composition is, as always with your shots, simply perfect.

Klasse! Den Rollei-Film wollte ich als naechstes auch probieren. Scheint von Deinem Bild zu beurteilen den IR-Effekt etwas besser wiederzugeben als der SFX200 Film (weniger graues Blattwerk).

The Rollei IR 400 is, if I remember correctly, sensitized a bit further into the IR spectrum compared to the Ilford SFX200. Both Rollei and Ilford are really only near IR. I once shot a roll of Rollei with a true IR filter - you could barely see the sun on the negatives, everything was utterly underexposed. 🙁Unfortunately production of the Efke IR film stopped a few years back, a true IR film. And I (foolishly) dream of Kodak resurrecting their colour IR film. 😏

Back to some daytime photography. This is one of the entrances of the royal palace. I'm standing on the same sort of stairs as are shown and just behind me is a similar door which leads into the palace chapel. That is a really lovely location. Unfortunately some rigid-minded individual didn't let me take a picture there because I happened to have a tripod, even though the church was entirely empty except for myself and said Individuum (with emphasis on 'dum').

I shot this in September last year and there were a number of tourists milling about. This is therefore a composite of three images.

This looks remarkably like the entrance to your government buildings in Stockholm to Philip, with a mirror staircase etc "behind" where you shot from? Or is the building I am thinking actually the Royal Palace? I'll dig out a pic or two.

You piqued my interest Philip, so I dug into the Euro pics we took on the 2017 trip (where we met up coincidentally).

The mono shot is from outside (digital with the X-Vario), and the colour shot is from Shirl's little Fuji. Dig as I did, I obviously didn't use any film that day, it was wet as I recalled.

Same place? Looks like it.

Norbert Schneider's The Art of the Still Life and his citation that Panofsky spoke of still life paintings that "disguised symbolism . . . a hidden religious structure beneath the 'cloak' of appearances" (17).

Is that a pomegranite next to the skull?

Now, I want to do still lifes. You're pushing me. Love the scale and dimensional perspective.

Tried to find a good copy of Robert Schneider´s Art of the Still Life for some time now... I just found and ordered one...  And yes, it´s not very risky to agree to Panofsky about the disguised symbolism and the cloak of appearances... When looking at the old masters I feel that I am missing many messages although I'm aware that they probably are there.. . Anyway,  the symbolism of the pomegranate is so vivid that I just couldn't resist to use  this symbol of life, fecundity and copiousness as a contrast to the  skull....

Doing still lives is fun but you need some playful mood and some time. I´m curiously waiting...

....  The only lens I found really difficult and annoying to an extent I didn't use it for years was  the Apo-Summicron 90 with its focus shift...I now have it tuned to a distance of about 1,5 m--my typical portrait distance with that lens.

K.

In my experience, and even with all the modern quality controls, the focus shift issue may be easily different for the same type of lenses. I (for the moment at least) have no issue whatsoever with focus shift on the Apo-Summicron 90. It is a different story with the pre-asph Summilux however...

The Bokeh with those lenses wide open is often fascinating to look at. In the photo below, for example the flower that is out of focus, in the centre, top of the image, appears sharper than it should be, and also has multiple images. I think that is due to the sun shining directly behind it through some leaves, and creating a few point-sources of light.

A good weekend to you all, C.
