How about a Leica with FF movie with Apple ProRez output to take the Summilux C Leica movie range of lenses plus M and R. Body by Jonathan Ive.

Focus puller with Leica Stanley Kubrick special edition tape measure optional:)

Lol, but I honestly do think Leica will introduce a dedicated 4k video camera one day...

Shouldn't there be prizes for the most accurate guess? ;)

* APS sensor

* AF with fiddly manual focus LCD option

* Interchangeable lenses

* Fits Panasonic Leica series plus new ones tba

* Leica M lens compatible but x1.3

* Sensible controls like proper aperture and shutter dials as per M or X

* No EVF or OVF but existing accessory EVF will be compatible

* New bundled software

* Long delay before it is actually available

* Celebrity endorsement -- who will it be??

Unlikely to be a rangefinder because that would detract from the real M.

I would have thought that to set it apart from the pack it would have to be a FF sensor on a smaller M body minus the rangefinder. the main problem I see with this is that if it is a manual lens only camera focus peaking doesn't work well with wide angle lenses where the inherent DOF makes accuracy difficult. Personally I would have thought that a crop sensor is unlikely as sony, fuji, panasonic etc have already done that and I think it would be hard for them to really compete

I'm sure the folks at Leica are having a good laugh at some of our suggestions, and that the marketing department will be opening a few bottles of Sekt when the results of their sweepstake on the number of posts are in this afternoon at five.

Forgive me if this has been said (I gave up reading after 8 pages), but these posts are not predictions, they're wishlists.

I predict a Digilux II replacement but with X2 build quality. A fixed lens zoom camera with EVF not a range finder.

This is not a wish list it is a logical guess. An RX100 alternative is already in the range it is called the X2, so this announcement is not an X2 upgrade to FF it is a new camera. I don't think it will be a new interchangeable lens camera because I believe it would cause more problems than it would solve.

A rebirth of the Digilux II would be fantastic. Either with a 1 inch or a mft sensor.

I think it will be an interchangeable M mount crop-sensor camera without the rangefinder mechanism.

+1

Its a APS-C mirrorless with a M compatible mount and 2 new AF lenses with M mount + built-in chips and electronic contacts.

The M stands for Messsucher so I think it will be a rangefinder, if not it would be (very) stupid to call it an M.

The illustration on their homepage calls all manners of cameras "M". It seems that they want to de-emphasize the importance of the rangefinder for their success in the market.

A mini rangefinder? Well, if you think they can make one smaller than the M but I think they would've done that earlier and called it the M :)

The illustration on the homepage is for advertising not for telling truth or giving detailed technical information. Advertising wants to stir attention. At least in this forum it is successful.

Perhaps, if so then we can expect some clarification during the announcement. Because what ever was released, was approved by Leica. If nothing else, it denotes a change in direction.

Maybe Leica have used the time since their announcement of the M240 to develop its successor, thus obviating the need to produce any M240's at all other than the samples that have already been distributed - their intention being to behave in the same way with the Mini M and its successor on a rolling basis so they never actually have to go to all that bother of producing in a timely manner a large volume of cameras that they have announced? Or maybe not.

The M stands for Milestone, at least according to Leica. It will not be a rangefinder, for the same reason the M-E didn't have a frame preview lever. Too expensive to manufacture and too many warranty returns.

13 pages, 256 comments and over 9,000 views in 1 day, that means by June 11th there will be 234 pages, 5,000 comments , dwarfing the rest of the board

Folk are more excited for this then the M240, and thats a fact!

Maybe Leica is on to something ...
