So, I gave in today!

Went and left a "hefty" $50 deposit for my New M+ evf+ extra battery at my trusted (small) Leica dealer in the city. Let's see how long before I get the "call"...

I am in no rush since I don't want to be a beta tester, and have M9s to work with, on the other hand I am in need of an extra "body" to do video with. So, give and take I will now wait for my "Schwartz" M...:D

Welcome in the club ;) Caved in and ordered mine three weeks ago. #3 at my dealer - the importer figures I'll be in the second batch in a few weeks. Like you, I am in no hurry at all.

Nice! I caved yesterday and put money down on one. Apparently I'm number 25 of the 30 they ordered. So hopefully I won't be waiting to long for it. My first time venturing into the world of Leica and Rangefinders, I'm quite excited needless to say. :D

Welcome to the forum :) You'll have plenty to read on the forum whilst you're waiting. Production is supposed to be 50 per day max - for the whole world. The NAFTA will probably get something like 20% of the supply, if sales figures are anything to go by.

Those numbers sound depressing if NAFTA gets 200/month assuming they work 20 days/month before subtracting holidays/ vacations etc.

I'm assuming that the hardware has been cooked for some time and they've been cranking out cameras for weeks now. Anyone know for sure if my assumption is correct?

Unlikely . With the M9 they wanted to do a pre launch build ..so that supplies would immediately follow the big launch . Something delayed them and the initial batch for the USA was 20 . But then almost nothing for weeks . They were on allocation for months (this is when they have more firm orders than they can fill ..so someone decides that Dealer A gets 2 this week . ) It was almost 6 weeks until some dealers received one camera .

50 bodies a day has been the normal production level at Solms since the M8 ....1000 a month ....they have had higher rates ( i know the goal was 1500 with the M9 not sure if they averaged that or if it was peak but it will be much higher than a 1000 a month eventually). Wasn t the M9 projected at 50K units ? over 30 months ?

It was never to be any other way. Must be hard to be a dentist without the latest Leica. :D

That thumbwheel is going to catch on the patients' front teeth...:o

The worst thing is that I cannot figure out how to get an icecream to Scotland without it thawing.

And Germany has the largest number of free days of all Europe...:( with a legal minimum of 24 and 30 to 36 no exception.

durchschnittliche Anzahl Urlaubstage bei 40 Std/Woche (vollzeit, produktion)

Plus 9 to 13 official holidays, depending on the state. Hessen, where Solms is, has ten.

Plus Fashing, (Carnaval) when people may be at work, but not at their most efficient....

Holland has 20+10 as minimum.

(Edit for mistake)
