Hi everyone! I am new to this forum and wanted to say hey and ask for some help. I found this screw mount at a flea market in Moscow last summer and would like to know if this is a Leica ii or iii. The serial number is 114598 and it has a 50mm Elmar f/3.5 lens. I am shooting Russian B&W Siberra Pan film. My first two rolls of film were developed but blank so I probably didn't load it correctly. My third roll came out OK but the I was just taking random test shots just to check the camera. After all it was a flea market find and I really wasn't taking time to focus but a few shots did come out quite sharp.

More recently I purchased a M6ttl .85 had have taken a few shots in the front yard but all of the local camera stores are closed due to COVID-19 s I have nowhere yet to have the film processed. I have typically shot beauty & glamour and fashion with digital and am now exploring street which I've shot with a Fujifilm X100F. Well that's my story ...

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum. I've had its results come up quite a few times in Google search results, and I decided it was time to register and join, since there's some quality content here. I'll probably just be lurking for now and absorbing information. I've already found some good reading material on a few threads.

My Leica of choice is an M6. Sadly, it'll be seeing infrequent use for the future, at least until the time of social distancing and quarantine passes.

Hi,

Just another new member after reading a lot on the forum and elsewhere to choice the right Leica for me.

So first, thank you all for all the information shared :).

I am from Belgium, 38yo, i have at my disposal a lot of gear, until now, i used only Nikon (D4, F3, F6, all the fast prime lenses from 35mm to 400mm and zooms  from 14-24 to 180-400) to satisfy my needs from studio photography, sport photography, airshows, family pictures... I do print a lot as well for family and friends. Gifts from me are usually framed pictures as i think.

As my kids are growing up, i wanted to have something smaller than my (d)slr, less intimidating but as i enjoy good quality products, i turned to Leica.

I wanted a full manual camera to find back what i was using as i was younger, to take more time into thinking of the shot (or being prepared before the shot).

I had a dark room when younger and shot a lot of TriX400, HP5+, and others and would like to share my 6yo daughter who love photography and takes a lot of memories with her camera, showing her that photography has another side to digital.

So i bought a M3 DS with 2 lenses : 50mm Summicron  (11826) and a 90mm Summicron Pre ASPH that should arrive any day now (A problem with DHL is preventing me from enjoying it at the moment).

I will probably also buy a MP for color films with the metering as well as a Summicron 35mm (or 28mm) but i am not yet settled on that choice. Even if i know that i will end up with both at some point.

I guess that is all i can say for now, i will probably read more than will write as my Leica knowledge is pretty limited for now and hope this new camera settings will make me discover yet another side to photography and will allow me to meet some friendly people along the way

Hello everyone

My Name is Ben and im addicted to Leica Cameras😅

Everything started with an old M6 i got quiet cheap. From this i moved to the Leica Q and now to the Q2. Been thinking if i should add a M10-P to the Collection very soon.

Glad to be here.

Hi There,

I’m afraid I’ve committed the cardinal sin of posting elsewhere before introducing myself, I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me 🙂

I’ve been shooting professionally since the late 80’s with varying degrees of success. I owned an M6 for a few years that I loved but was hit badly by the 2008 crash and ended up selling it sadly. I then joined the UK fire service full time following this whilst also contInuing with my photography which I’ve done for the past 10 years, fortunately this has enabled me the space to start shooting projects, largely architectural.

After buying an M10 last year along with a 35mm cron I fell in love once more with Leica, an architectural project was initially shot with this combo the results of which bowled me over. I’ve since sold all my Sony gear and bought into an SL2 system for paid work.

I’ve always shot manual so the transition to the M range was perfect and it’s “limitations” suit my shooting style perfectly. My house is in the process of being sold and once complete I’ll be buying an M10-R and Apo 50mm to continue the projects.

I’m happy to be back.

I’ve been a lurker here for a while and it’s been an invaluable source of information.

My wife refused to let our house go for me to cash the difference between my M9 to a new M10-R plus any "ASPHs"... :)

Perhaps your wife has underestimated the level of romance involved in a life under canvas?😁

Hi everyone, I got my first Leica about a year ago, I finally decided to join a forum. I have a CL with 18-56mm lens. I'm just an amateur that likes taking pictures and appreciates the refinements Leica cameras offer. I come from using an old Sony A6000, great camera at the time of release but it has seen better days. Prior to that I used (and still have it) a Nikon D90, which is still attached to my heart.

Hi, all.

Many years ago I bought a second hand Leica R5 and 50mm f/1.4, which I absolutely love.  I took them up mountains in Scotland, Wales, England, Nepal, Bhutan, Antarctica and Africa (Kilimanjaro).  I then defected to other manufacturers to take advantage of autofocus lenses (Canon, Nikon) but have recently bought a new SL2 and 50mm Apo f/2 lens, which I am getting used to.  Still using the R lenses with an adapter, and still have the R5 as it is too lovely to even consider selling, and using the Canon lens with the Sigma MC-21 adapter too, and trying to figure out how to set up my new camera. Very much an amateur, and hoping to get out more once the Covid-19 pandemic is more under control.

I posted a separate introduction, but thought I'd add a hello here as well.

Recently bought a iiif with 50mm (or should I say 5cm) Summitar f2. Cracking little camera but a bit squinty to look through. Just scored a 9cm Elmar off fleabay for it and a 9cm SGVOO viewfinder to go with it. Hopefully should have that before I go on holiday. Got an L39 to FX adapter winging my way as well so I can use these fabulous old lenses on my Fuji X-Pro2.

Got a brick of Portra 400 delivered as well and have a roll in the camera. Can't say I've used Portra before so should be interesting. Rating it at 320 iso

Now it's a toss-up between saving for a film body or a digital..

My first posting. Have had an iiif for a few years now. And added two Canon FD lens (they were so cheap, I couldn't resist), I do have a 5cm f2 Summar and a 50cm 3.5 Elmar. But to use the FD lenses I have a Canon Converter B. However I have a problem and am seeking an answer. The Canon Convert B is attached to a Canon FD 28mm f:2.8 lens, But I cannot get it off. Have used as much effort as possible without wrecking the lens or the converter. Any advice truly welcomed.

I too made the cardinal error of not saying Hi earlier.

I posted a thing on the Canon Converter B. I am only 86, one year older than my Summar and 3 years older than the Elmar. I live in Ottawa, Canada, but was born in London. I bought my first Leica from that place in London called Wallace Heaton(?) it was in 1958 and it was an M2. But digital got me later and now I use a Lumix FZ200, besides the iiif and the Summar and the Elmar I have two FD Canon lenses a 28mm 2.8 and a 50mm 1.8. There is now only one other camera and that is an Olympus XA with an attached flash in a nice Vegan Leather case. Enforced lock-down means little outside and no lab is open.
