Beautiful. Any idea how many black were made, I've only recalled seeing chrome?

My black paint SL is my absolute favourite.

Gary

There are two versions of this first Leicaflex generation and only about 500 of each were black painted..

Cheers

Michael

Hello Thebarnman.

It is actually "Jahre" which is "years" in German.

The engraving commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the first Leitz 35mm film camera.

The actual engraving is "50 Jahre" which translates to "50 years".

Best Regards,

Michael

Hello Everybody,

Some of the 50th Anniversary M4's are engraved "Leitz Wetzlar". Other 50th Anniversary M4's are engraved "Leitz Midalnd".

Best Regards,

Michael

Midland, Ontario - a few miles from my family's cottage. I've driven past the Leitz plant countless times, but they never would let me in for a tour. Too much sensitive military work going on apparently.

SL2 and 80mm is indeed a perfect combo.

Here's the SL2 tandem closeup requested.

Other than a CLA by Claus-Werner Reinhardt, it is brand new in its box:
