With its flag-post I suspect the 220S was a former diplomatic car. Welcome, dear visitor! As Michael said, a "good-looking car". I believe DB consulted Carrosserie Herman Graber for a change from its typische deutsche roots. Underpowered, but that was Germany recovering from devastation. When I lived in Stuttgart and visited the factory, I was told it was the last model designed without incorporating designed obsolescence.

NigelG Posted July 25, 2022 Share #18093 Posted July 25, 2022 Seems similar to the price rises for “regular” muscle cars in the US and UK. I guess guys my age who have made some money now want to buy the cars they couldn’t afford as young men. Not exotica - but certainly the price in the UK of Triumph Stags, TR6s, Ford Capris, Ford Escort RS models etc - the models that were the aspirational “everyday-but-faster/better/cooler” cars - are now entering serious classic territory and have mightily suffered from poor build/tin worm to leave the remaining “cherished” ones at a premium. I would guess this Ford Falcon is squarely in that category….

I get your explanation, but as someone with only a remote interest in cars I was very surprised to see a 425,000 Aussie dollar price tag for the car I showed. That's Italian sportscar territory. wlaidlaw Posted July 29, 2022 Share #18100 Posted July 29, 2022 That is why I thought it might be an American Le France. I think it was Roger Lucas who drove that on the Beijing to Paris rally. His comment afterwards was never never ever again in a converted fire engine. He subsequently did it again in an ex-works Safari Mercedes 280SL, that we bought from him and did the Transamerica off road Rally in. Wilson
