How many film cameras do people still own and use?

I literally can pick out the G negatives just by looking at them on the light table. Those Planars are magnificent.

I can't disagree with you there, my G2 is the camera I most regret selling, the lenses are indeed magnificent (and I understand you can now buy adapters for them......)

Anyway, along with too many Leica film bodies, folding cameras, large format cameras, 6x6 cameras (note the plurals), the latest is the good old Texas Leica, a Fuji GSW 690, but only one, so far.

Several.

Here are just some of them. And they all see some usage every now and then.

Oh dear, how out of date this is.

I now have:

Nikon

F3, F4, FE2, FA, F90x, F100, FM3A,

Canon

T90 (2), EOS1, 3 & 5e,

Olympus

OM1, OM2, OM2n & OM4Ti

Hasselblad

2003, 503

Rolleiflex 2.8GX,

Leica

M3, R4, R7

Zeiss Ikon

Contax RX

In 2012 I did put at least 2 rolls through each camera. In 2013 I managed a few rolls through some cameras. This year it is even worse. More a symptom of overwork than boredom with film.

Each time I pick up a camera, I realize all the things I love about it and want to put more rolls through.

Does having a DMR on an R9 count?

M6 TTL (black paint) with black paint 50 Summilux

M7

RB67

Bronica SQA

Yashicamat 124G

Canon A1

Canon EOS650 (dont like it)

Nikon F1

Olympus XA

Minolta 35

2x Olympus Muji

On the hunt for:-

Hasselblad 501 or 503

Olympus OM3 or 4Ti

M7 titanium (dreaming)

Nikon F5 or F6

Mamiya 6 or 7

Nikon 35Ti

Last week I gave a Nikon F3T, 20mm lens and motor to a local chap in need. I have a brick of film in my bike bag for him when I see him again.

So, now it is all Leica for 35mm, and I am good with that.

hehehehe

I have several Nikons from F2 to F5, FM2n, FE2. Leica M3, M6 and CM. Contax G1, RTS-III, 167MT (2 of them). Then, in MF, a Fuji GS645 wide, a Pentax 67 outfit, a couple of 6x6 folders, and a Crown Graphic 4x5.

Most used are Leica M6 and CM, Nikon FM2n, the Pentax 67 and the Graflex 4x5.

I have been thinking of buying a Nikon F5 – seems criminal not to when a fine condition example costs about £300:D – but I might stick for now with my MP (which, as nice a "thing" as it is, seems like a bit of an overindulgence). I also have two Polaroid SX-70 cameras and was recently pleased to find an unused pack of the real film (from around 2005) in a box I was sorting through. My only other film camera is a modern Leica 0-serie which is a lovely thing but not something I use very often (meaning never).

Two Sigma Merrills for digital.

Currently considering M7 / MP or maybe a digital M body.

I know what you mean. My favourite Nikon is the FM3A so, with prices as they are, I picked up a mint black and mint chrome version. I enjoy using them very much, but my goto cameras are my MPs. That rangefinder experience is very satisfying.

Pentax LX, owned from new in mid 1980s but suffering from sticky mirror now, otherwise in working order, recently used with Pentax zoom fisheye as focus is not particularly critical.

Following acquired secondhand:-

Pentax K1000, found one at car boot sale for five or ten quid with 50mm f2 lens, in working order.

Nikons; F2 with Plain meter less prism, F4 and FE2

Leica MP and R8

Selection of Pentax, Nikon and R and M lenses.

Lots of fun.

I received my new camera just yesterday - a Rolleiflex 3.5f Planar.

That takes me to 30 film cameras. Time to thin down I think.

I am actually wondering if the Rolleiflex and one of my Leica Ms will do - but which, M2, M3, M5 or MP? I use them all.

My F3/T was my main camera from 1985 until 2010 when I changed over to Leica. I sold it, with all of my AI-S primes, as soon as I saw for myself how much better the Leica lenses were. I thought I'd miss it but I don't.

Indulge yourself. it's an exceptional camera and it can be had for next to nothing. Not that I'm complaining, but I'm amazed that such a technological tour de force as the f5, arguably the last great pro film camera, goes so cheap these days, at a 4th of the price of an F6, which, while an excellent camera, is really a boutique piece.

Heck, it seems like yesterday I was in Beaumarchais in Paris ogling the F5s for 3000 Euro.
