  1. Today I published an article dedicated to the Leica 30-90mm Vario-Elmar-S in the field on the Leica S (007), including my consideration about using it on the Leica SL. Here it is: https://vieribottazzini.com/2017/03/leica-30-90mm-f3-5-5-6-vario-elmar-s-asph-user-report.html Hope you'll enjoy the read and images! Best, Vieri
  2. Just a short note to tell you about a new way I've found for attaching the Leica S to the tripod's head. It's via the Novoflex L-Bracket. With it it's possible to go quickly from horizontal to vertical without changing the tripod's head position, something every L-Bracket should allow. This Novoflex part has an Arca-Swiss profile, and fits seamlessly in the Castel-Q rail. Together they form a quite small and light panorama rig, for rotating around the nodal point. Besides, this L-Bracket gives a good grip for the left hand. And with it the camera can rest, both horizontally and vertically, on a flat surface without the danger of scratching it...
  4. Good morning Leica S fans, Leica is offering me a demo day to try some lenses. Not sure if I would ask for the S 100mm or the S 120mm. It should be used next to the S 30-90mm zoom. Mostly for portrait (60%) and travel (40%). Very very rarely for Macro. Which one is your favorite and why?
  5. Hi All, just wondering if anyone in Australia has the Leica S - Contax 645 adapter? I really want to try it out with a few lenses before i buy and the helpful folk in management of Leica in Australia wont bring one into the country unless its paid for up front! Happy to pay a hire fee & shipping costs if need and i can get the item listed on my insurance schedule for the time that it would be with me! Ping me an email if you can help out! Thx all Wade - wade (at) wadeedwards (dot) com (dot) au
  6. After the vertical one taken with the Leica SL I posted a while ago, one more Sunrise at Playa de Gueirua in the Asturias (Spain), this time in landscape format and with a slightly longer lens (28mm FOV instead of 15mm). Playa de Gueirua is really amazing with the right sky and definitely worth the descent (and ascent back up!). This time is Leica S (Typ 007) and Leica Summarit-S 35mm. Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri
  7. A spectacular sunrise at beautiful Playa Ballota, in the Asturias (Spain), one of my favourite destination along this marvellous coast. Leica S (Typ 007), Leica Summarit-S 35mm, Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri
  8. "The end of the line", shot in Death Valley (USA) with the Leica S and Summarit-S 35mm. The drive to the Racetrack can be a bit taxing, especially if you don't have the right car for it, but it definitely worth it: such an amazing place, not to be missed! Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri
  9. The amazing cliffs and lighthouse of Neist Point, the westernmost land point on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, bathed in the soft light of a spectacular sunset. With the Leica S (007), Leica Super-Elmar-S 24mm and Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. Thanks for viewing, best Vieri
  10. "Portizuelo's Devil", in Asturias (Spain). You need to do some acrobatics to get to Portizuelo when the tide is high, blocking access to the beach; however, the landscape there is definitely worth the shower. Leica S (007), Leica Summarit-S 70mm, Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri
  11. A Sunset Study, in le Cinque Terre (Italy) with the Leica S (Typ 007) and the 35mm Summarit-S f/2.5. Best, Vieri

  14. Playa Ballota is a great location - the islet is a spectacular background, and there is plenty of foreground interest. Just love it!! Leica S (Typ 007), Leica Summarit-S 35mm. Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri
  15. The Arch at Playa de Campiecho, in the Asturias. Leica S (Typ 007), Summarit-S 35mm. Thanks for viewing, best Vieri
  16. I have a question about Leica S APO_ELMAR 180mm, at WO f3.5, when I hit the DOF preview, I can see the aperture blade actually close some instead of WO. To verify further, I tried at f4, it is indeed close a little bit further and each stop will close more. Can you guys who have this lens check. I took an image WO, and look through the lens, I can see the aperture indeed close a little before shutter close. From what I guess, if the exposure indeed at f3.5, the lens most likely f2.8 if not close. The reason I find this out is I notice bokeh light source ball is not fully rounded at WO.
  17. Back from Death Valley, while I am processing the hundreds of images gotten during my Workshops there I thought I'd post a little sunset study from Riomaggiore, in le Cinque Terre: Leica S (007), Leica Summarit-S 35mm, 8 sec @ f/8. Best, Vieri

  20. El Castro de Las Gaviotas, an impressive sea arch in the Asturias, Spain shot at sunrise. Leica S and Summarit-S 35mm. Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri

  22. I love Badwater in Death Valley: it's an extraordinary location, its landscapes are ever changing and with a sunset storm the light there becomes really magic. Leica S (Typ 007), Leica Vario-Elmar-S 30-90mm. Thanks for viewing, best regards Vieri
  23. I've just received the new Leica S half case and strap by Angelo Pelle http://www.angelo-pelle.com . In the past I had a lot of half cases for by M made by Angelo Pelle but with the S he went even a step further regarding fitting. The case and strap are wonderfully finished in real Italian leather with a beautiful irregular texture. The backdoor is also included and integrated in the half case. The case protects the S and makes it a second skin. You don't need to remove the case for fitting a tripod which is very handy. Angelo Pelle offers a lot of different colors/finishes for the S on his website. Shot with Leica MM CCD and 75mm Summilux
  24. The arch at Playa de Campiecho, in the Asturias, at sunset. Leica S (Typ 007), Summarit-S 35mm. 60 seconds @ F/11. Thanks for viewing, best Vieri
