Pedro Posted October 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) It seems like the M6 and MP are much more popular than the M7. Is this right? I know there is a generic "I love my M" thread but its not getting much activity. By the way, I take the opportunity to thank and congratulate all those who have been posting great pictures of their film Ms. Beautiful and great to look at.

alun Posted October 10, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 10, 2009 It does seem to be the case that M7 users don't fetishise their cameras in the way that MP (and M2) users do... It's one of the reasons I like M7s...
hamey Posted October 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted October 10, 2009 The M7 was designed to be used. Frankly I prefer my Leica R in general but I consider the Leica M7 to be the best Film M. In LOW LIGHT and slide film, I just leave my M7 and the 35mm f2 wide open and not worry about exposure It's usually spot on, try that with an MP or other manual metered M camera. Ken. kemal_mumcu Posted October 11, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 11, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) There used to be an "I love my M7" thread. Maybe it dropped off the radar. Anyway, it's the M I'd buy if I ever got a second. Great for street work I'd think. Let's see 'em!

pipeclayed Posted October 11, 2009 Share #9 Posted October 11, 2009 Can I ask, why is the M7 considered better than the MP (or M6) for shooting slide film?
underground Posted October 11, 2009 Share #10 Posted October 11, 2009 I tried to start this thread quite a while ago. I guess I'm not as popular as others but here is my contribution Welcome, dear visitor! andybarton Posted October 11, 2009 Share #11 Posted October 11, 2009 Can I ask, why is the M7 considered better than the MP (or M6) for shooting slide film? Because the meter is so good, and it's automatic option is outstanding. I love my M7 too, btw
peter_n Posted October 11, 2009 Share #12 Posted October 11, 2009 Can I ask, why is the M7 considered better than the MP (or M6) for shooting slide film?It has a stepless shutter so in theory you get a more accurate exposure.

jrh68uk Posted October 20, 2009 Share #19 Posted October 20, 2009 I remember the old "ILMM7" thread which didn't seem to gain momentum as the "ILMMP" thread has. I definitely LMM7! I've considered an MP as well but, to be honest, I think I'd rather have another M7 (ALC, actually). Here's a pic of the M7 ALC which, one day, will be mine Welcome, dear visitor! Pedro Posted October 20, 2009 Author Share #20 Posted October 20, 2009 A M7... with quasi MP look!!! Great idea - that way you get M7 (optional) auto-exposure with improved look. Any reason why someone would prefer an MP over that?
