But those things have less value one by one than if you design a rangefinder, and assebles it from theese parts. That is something that adds economial value. The output product is a camera, the input is just a heap of parts.
Advertisement Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Hi adli, Take a look here M9 spotted in Leica Youtube Video.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jevidon Posted September 1, 2009 Share #322 Posted September 1, 2009 Why is made in Portugal such a bad thing if the plant is Leica's? They had a successful run in Canada for many years and the product quality was not diminished. IMHO, there is a difference between outsourcing from other manufacturers and outsourcing to one's own plant. The major difference is quality control and specifications. "Made in Germany" assists sales and customer perceptions only.

Alberti Posted September 1, 2009 Share #324 Posted September 1, 2009 Here's what I find most interesting. Notice at second 57 - the angle on the body at upper left. I think this IS indeed the real deal! -Ron I'm sure they have treated the camera as a Black Box! alberti
jevidon Posted September 1, 2009 Share #325 Posted September 1, 2009 Die völker at Solms who are watching this thread, and I believe that they are, must be laughing their heads off so much that production has come to a screaming halt. As much fun as this has been, maybe we should all call a halt so that they can go back to work and get the new M8.3 or M9 or whatever out on time; assuming that there is such a thing. lct Posted September 1, 2009 Share #326 Posted September 1, 2009 ...The Digilux2 is marked "Germany"(without the made in, that is noted as well), the IR filters have Germany on them... Suffice it to engrave 'Leica Camera Germany' and most people will be happy if the camera works flawlessly.

markgay Posted September 1, 2009 Share #329 Posted September 1, 2009 Why is made in Portugal such a bad thing if the plant is Leica's? They had a successful run in Canada for many years and the product quality was not diminished. I'm all for Made in Portugal. Apart from having lived in the country and having great respect for its people, if Leica can sell the last few Noctilux in a cigar box, what about an M series camera in a case with two bottles of Quinta Do Noval port? They'd have to weather seal it, though. PS I've been filming my toddler this evening: Leica lens on a Panasonic HPX170 P2 camera. Anyone else still taking pictures? Alberti Posted September 1, 2009 Share #331 Posted September 1, 2009 Yes, the issue of LCD apparent "repositioning" has been discussed in another M9 thread... space for new battery is one of the ideas about. I think the s/n isn't so significant... being engraved only on the shoe, is a cheap component from the warhouse (the old times of 8 digits - prototype s/n are gone... ) I would have liked a repositioning to the right by a cm or two. I always powder my nose, and because of that I get strange smears on the screen. alberti

jaapv Posted September 1, 2009 Share #333 Posted September 1, 2009 Jaap, sorry, I do not agree. Beside what you mentioned above you forgot to mention first of all that the engineering is done in Germany. Also testing includes final adjustment which is very important for a rangefinder.Regards Steve Hey! You were quoting Andy

albertknappmd Posted September 1, 2009 Share #335 Posted September 1, 2009 nice pick up indeed... I have reviewed the video carefully and am convinced it is indeed the M9... They sliced it into the S2 but little did they realize what degree of scrutiny the crew of the Leica Forum would amass..... Can't wait to see the first pictures of the M9.... Could the third camera be...... an R10..........................
stunsworth Posted September 1, 2009 Share #336 Posted September 1, 2009 They sliced it into the S2 but little did they realize what degree of scrutiny the crew of the Leica Forum would amass..... lct Posted September 1, 2009 Share #339 Posted September 1, 2009 Cool, there it is right in front of us! Now whyT is the finder so big? To get both an higher VF magnification and wide framelines i guess. The 1:1 VF of the R-D1 is bigger than Leica's as well.
