More rumors: Apparently, M9 is not the only camera to be announced on 09/09?

From Leica Rumors: "A very reliable source from France confirmed that there will be a Leica M9 on September 9th (18MP, full frame, not a Canon sensor). I can say that now I am 99% sure about that announcement. The best part is that there will be also another camera announced on that day that “would be very interesting”. Remember what Stefan Daniel said: “there will be no R10 from Leica, but there will be a good solution that allows us to use our R-lenses on a digital body“. So, what is this new camera going to be? Will it take R-lenses? Leca clearly said that they will stay away from m4/3, so that’s out of the question. I will try to gather some more information."

What were those things called that fitted on M cameras to turn them into a clunky SLR look-a-like, Visoflex or something?

It's one of them for the M8! of course you will need to send your lenses away to get coded.

No because, that clunky thing, would read the rom on your R lens.

Why don't we just wait till 090909., instead of starting the same thread over and again?

Why not? I think it is great fun to follow the various speculations and frenzy some people work themselves into when trying to anticipate what will actually be announced on 09.09 (if anything)

You guys have got it all wrong! It is going to be the Leicina 2 built by Panasonic, it will take M lenses and R lenses can use the old Leicina M-R adapter!! My NDA forbade me to talk about it, but now the rumor is out, I am released!!!:D

Hey, let's start a new thread: The M9 will be a film camera. Totally cool.

That would have been great ;-) ...and it comes with a dedicated "Leica Retrovit" 35mm scanner, and a introduction to a new film developed for 2009 in the Polapan spirit for 1$ each 36exp film, no need for chemicals...this would have made my day ;-)

He also said that "solution" would be a long time away. Micro 4/3 is not a solution, by a long chalk. Nor is a "viso" solution on an Mx.

Hardly a rumour when the company announces it by email...

My point was that there were no rumors about the new monovid. I do not see why cameras are always preceded by rumors, and monovids are not. The monovids must surely feel neglected.

I get your point. A counter-point (perhaps) would be that although the rampant speculation may get tedious, it's typically about products that *haven't* been announced, thus the rumours. Once something has been declared by Leica to exist, there's hardly need to speculate. At that point, the rumour threads turn to deconstruction, criticism, and (occasionally) celebration. :)
