As long as we are sharing our M8's here is mine, with some of the black chrome worn off from my finger.

Hi,

this is my first picture with my new/2°hand M8-2 with 21 Leitz Elmarit and UVa Leitz.

Nothing IR/UV need. Many pictures test do it with and without IR/UV cut filter. With IR/UV cut filter the pictures are reddish too. With only UVa Leitz, the colors are as environment you can look with your eyes; natural.

I've been quite pleased at the M8's performance as an Infrared camera, but without the usual total darkness routine you have to do with film. The rangefinder is still clear even with an opaque filter. It's easy to adjust the focus. The meter reads accurately for IR shots with both an R72 (Leica IR filter) and a B+W 87C filter. Mine is a chrome M8 I bought used from Tamarkin.

Here's a photo.net link to some pictures I posted converting the results to Black and White:

And here's one converted to false color.

Exposure times are slow for the 87C but the Leica IR filter gives you borderline handheld times in sunlight. And this is Winter. I'm looking forward to seeing what it will do in Spring and Summer when there is lots of IR coming off the plants.

Dirk - Is that a black paint M8? It looks amazing, although that Frankenfinder looks a little cumbersome.

With all the hype around the M9, I feel like the M8 is being neglected. So here a couple of photos to bump this thread a little

Maybe it's because I don't have the $7000 lying around, or maybe it's because the M8 is a stellar camera in her own right; but I LOVE MY M8.

I love my M8, too. It feels and works like, well, a camera!

The M8 and old glass is a match made in heaven, IMO.

Works aces with the new stuff, too...

It's a standard M8.2, slightly worn ;-)

The finder actually is not cumbersome at all!

I hated the fiddling, guessing and being let down by lesser finders without parallax correction and once I tried the Frankenfinder, I am very happy.

Maggie - the chrome M8 with Summaron looks very, very handsome!

Care to share some photos with it?

Cool looking M8's with CV glass. That old Summaron looks pretty cool too. Nothing like blending old and new for drama. My first Nokton should be arriving next week (50mm f/1.1). I'm excited.

Don't you just love the Luigi Cases? I am absolutely in LOVE with mine. The added thickness really helps the handling.

Well that's because nothing quite compares to the beauty of a Leica M.

Yep. I am really impressed with the change in handling. The looks / leather smell are just a bonus! (OK - not quite but you get my drift...)
