Wow, that looks like an almost brand new M5😃! What do you think of the Adox Color Mission?

Bought it from an elderly gentleman who literally never used it 😱

It was not sealed, but in mint condition with packaging and papers. He had not put even a single roll of film through it. And it works flawlessly.

I just finished shooting 3 rolls of the Color Mission, sending to a lab for dev/scan tomorrow. Will reply back here shortly with links to the images 🤩

This seems the place to ask: I sold my M5 ( together with a steel rim Summilux ) sometime  in the late 90´s of the last century because of... ennui and recurring problems with the sticky meter, ah, and upcoming AF... Hate myself for this and maybe it´s the time for putting a band aid on that festering sore:

- after all the years: what are the weak points to look after when hunting for a nice M5 ?

- are there spare parts for the camera ?

-for the meter ?

- did you modify the meter for 1,5 volts  or do you use adapters ?

-any suggestions ?

thank you for your answers,   K.

Use adapters as the silver oxide S625PX battery is no longer available.

The only weak point I know of on the M5 is the contact inside the battery chamber. The one in mine snapped off at the base where it hinges due to metal fatigue. It's a very thin, narrow piece of metal. The one in the M6 is much better - a thick swirl of metal that acts as both a contact and a spring - no need for a hinge. So I'd definitely check that.

Otherwise, as you'll remember, it's a tremendous camera.

Spare parts are officially not available when I was asking about them. Some technicians still have old stock.

Shutter might break in earlier models. Mine did and serial is 1347xxx. Also my frameline mask delaminated and made focusing difficult. Also nonobtainium part, so I just milled new from brass with cnc. Rest of the camera is beautifully made.

With batteries I also recommend silver oxide and adapters. I created one with schottky diode bat43. Costs cents and works flawlessly.

Not seeing much love here for the M5.   After fifty years, I finally found and grabbed one; a little-used, one-owner, estate sale camera with a black rigid-Summicron.  It should be here on Friday (seller's image) USPS.    The M5 was built of unobtanium in 1971 when they came out, and for the past fifty-two years I've thought about picking one up.   I got the camera, lens and case for the average current price of the lens alone.  I'm in hopes that fifty years of storage has treated the body well.  This is a three-lug model with a 1358xxx s/n which puts it as a 1973 production camera, the same year I graduated from high school and began my career in photography.

I find it interesting that there were only 33.5k M5s produced in total.  I remember the horrible press the camera got among Leicaphiles when it was released in 1971.  Having shot M-series bodies now since 1974, and having an M3 it will be interesting to get to "know" the M5.   Other than the Summicrons I have with both, all of the other lenses I have are Canon Serenars in LTM used with adapters on my M bodies.
