In fact, without written approval by her parents, best witnessed by a lawyer just to be safe, I'd be scared witless to post a photo of someone else's child. Sad times. Great photo though! I have some thoughts about the background though. Yes, it fits in terms of composition and colour, however, a girl like you describe probably needs room - to run, to play,... The combination of the textured wall and the child wrapped in a coat give it a timeless quality. The expression on the child's face is also timeless. I agree it's the hair and the look in the eye that makes the shot. The wall was just a white wall with some drawings till she stood there and looked that way.
