Make 15 clicks from magenta towards green and 5 clicks from blue to yellow. Magenta cast is gone then.

Thanks Don, it helped a lot, but made the faces a little bit greenish and yellowish.. so I tried 7 clicks to green and 3 clicks to yellow and now everything looks much more natural..

Just warning everyone that this 2.6.0 firmware update completely bricked my M11. I've owned the M11 since the beginning, did every update successfully, but this one bricked it. After performing the update through my iPhone, the camera started displaying error messages I had never seen before. It also took photos that I couldn't view (photo briefly showed in preview after shutter action then disappeared). Then my camera displayed 0% battery even though the battery was fully charged. Now it doesn't turn on at all, even if I remove and replace the battery, or with a different fully charged battery. I'm sending my M11 to Leica for repair.

The only funny part is I did this update to finally solve the freezing issues (no, they were never fixed in any previous update), only to get my camera bricked.

and you were not able to fix it? Do you have to bring the camera to the service?

I can't rule out that there are differences in the basic white balance calibration between individual camera units. It's possible that you might achieve a harmonious result with a less pronounced adjustment than the one I suggested. Generally speaking: don't change anything if you find everything acceptable. However, if you perceive the result as having a color cast, you now have an excellent opportunity to make your own adjustments with the new firmware.

Surprisingly, I now find the automatic white balance on my M11 so reliable that I only make occasional adjustments in post. By the way, I always use the Adobe Standard profile in Lightroom for DNGs, and sometimes Color, Vivid or Landscape for landscape shots. But never the specific profile for the Leica M11. I find that fundamentally oversaturated. I don't know why it even exists.

Very useful, thank you. I gave up on AWB with the M11 a couple of years ago, and just permanently left it on daylight 5500K. Will maybe try AWB again, see if things are better now. Would have been preferable if this workaround wasn't required, and a more accurate colour balance was baked into the sensor. But fair play to Leica for at least addressing the issue.

Using a fixed WB setting like daylight oder a fixed Kelvin value will not prevent the magenta shift. It only sets a fixed temperature, but not a fixed tint.  But if you adjust the WB setting with the new feature, you will get a better white balance in all settings, automatic or fixed.

Me too, and then realized how much better the output is with that setting, so I changed all my cameras to use one of the predefined WB settings instead of AWB.

Reminder:

This thread is about the Leica M-11* firmware 2.6.0

Oops. I wonder why they don't deliver the firmware in some big luxurious packaging. Maybe they could even charge for it to improve the experience over a dull file download. 🙂
